Is that an attempt at a put down Fancy yourself as a bit of a Stirling Moss on the Mille Miglia?
I think sensible drivers choose the right road for their purposes. Twisty back roads for fun, autoroutes for covering distances quickly.

I’m torn, I like D roads and cruise control.
I use cruise control on our D roads. In fact I’m safer if I do. We have so little traffic round us I find it very easy to speed, especially if I’m running late.
A very balanced approach.
Going for a jaunt along the Spanish med and inland early next year so will report back, thanjs for the link.
I do remember when our toll card was used in Spain but it was only valid as far as Barcelona so perhaps any Spanish toll roads that still remain are not compatible with Vinci autoroutes?
Edit: found this
Not at all. I’m not the one obsessed by 0-62 times and power output. In fact it’s much more in the style of Denis Jenkinson, it’s about navigation, knowledge and efficiency. I dislike motorway driving so avoid them. I enjoy travelling through the countryside so plan routes to do that.
It’s a personal choice but it’s one thing that I have no interest in at all. I am in the minority but on a motorcycle I think that cruise control is dangerous, anything that allows someone on two wheels to relax their concentration is to be avoided.
Inland is fab, you will see so few other vehicles and lots of smart new roads, slightly confusing at first as you wonder if they are even open.
I use CC a lot on my bike and I don’t think it does anything to relax concentration, all it does for me is reduce the likelihood of cramp in the throttle hand.
I am amazed, always have been, that cruise control is even allowed by law, but I use mine in the car all the time above 49 km/hr simply to avoid the upwards creep towards yet another point off the permis. Not that I do much driving at all these days, but when it was annually as much as 85,000 kms, I went down to 8 points at one time.
Yes, he was very innovative with toilet rolls.
Who is the one that is? Another snide comment?
No it’s not. Why do you think it might be? I’m surprised that you associated my preference for quiet routes with Stirling Moss.
It’s just my belief. I have no proof as I’ve never used cruise control in my life. It’s a bit of modern technology that I’m happy to live without. So far I’ve not suffered wrist problems. I’m going out on my small dual sport this afternoon to do some Christmas shopping. It’s sunny so it’s a good excuse.
Sorry David, I’m just moving down the other end of the table
I think they removed the tolls on in the NE of Spain in the high season to ease the traffic on the other roads. The only places I’ve been recently has been more to the NW where the tools were always an option.
Lidl has 14 months free on Ulys for a while now. via app LidlPlus in Partenariats section. Briefly it wrnt up to 18 months in the summer.
I stopped using it because especially in hilly areas it seemed to reduce my mpg too much.
And we’ ve found that drivers in Spain are much more relaxed and courteous than in France. No tailgating.
