It’s a lower leaf of a tall Burdock type plant, buds yet to form, but can you see the tiny little cocoon hanging from the leaf? Left of centre. I assume it’s a cocoon. Have no idea what insect that is…
Well, if we’re going to start posting slightly blurry close-ups of wildlife then I’m up for that too. ![]()
Spring always out paces me – it goes by so quickly. Baby sparrows have already left the nest, and like this one, so close to independence. First of this year in my garden I’d say.
Not to forget the hard working mums & dads…
Shelob!
We have a blurry bat too, which is a nice surprise because we thought they’d all died when we found one had fallen out of its crevice in the roof over the winter and it was deader than the proverbial parrot.
Am exploring/learning macro photography and have been looking into very small flower heads in the garden, of the Crepis flower family, I think. You can see how small they are compared to a 1 centime coin.
While peering around these tiny flower heads I saw a dot suspended in space which began moving in straight lines and circles. It was a baby garden spider barely more than 1mm in size. To the right of the flowers, I have added that dot, which is how small the spider is compared to the coin and flowers, and it is fully fledged, able to make complex webs.
My eyes can only see a dot, not a spider, but the camera can see all.
I’m finding this all very absorbing and it’s just outside my front door!
