Will Macron succeed where Sarkozy failed?

You’ve definitely done your best… no idea why Harry keeps being vetoed… but life is one long mystery…:upside_down_face:

For ‘charity’ read ‘public service’ - if govt want people to stop using their cars, they have to provide an alternative, unless they want us to never go anywhere?
If ordinary people had a guaranteed income, working or not, they would spend it in the economy, and it all goes around, the economy flourishes.
Rich people salt their ill=gotten gains away in tax havens - nothing goes around.
There you have it : socialism vs capitalism.

Sounds utopian Ann, but I think, unfortunately, it’s a bit more complicated

Interesting theory that never works in practice. Who pays @anon88836513?

Any idea how that would work in rural France?

You used to be able to get just about anywhere in France by train - not any more.

You could say the same thing about the UK many years ago too !

I’m old enough to remember those days Ann, you could afford to use the train too then

Macron’s popularity has fallen further after the missile strikes, will he have the balls to stand firm against the SNCF unions?

i remember getting on the bus for pennies. now the same far costs a few quid, Kimberworth to Rotherham or Shefield.

And on the lines were they still do run trains in rural France they only run a timetable to suit people going to work and coming back, hardly any trains run in between these hours so no trains for people who want to go shopping.
The SNCF staff who man these trains sit around waiting to go home after the morning commute.
