Wood pellets - Granulés de Bois et Pellets

Hi everyone

I’ve just ordered wood pellets for the winter, price looks good and if you use this code we’ll get a discount!

There are discount codes for you too, look out for them while you are ordering. I got €25 off as I ordered two pallets.

Thanks

James

A local timber merchant has just invested heavily in a massive new pellet plant here in the Jura. http://scierie-chauvin.com/ I recently ordered and collected a palette (66 bags x 15kg, conformité Din Plus) for 406 euros TTC.
They are still waiting to receive their specialist lorry before they can deliver in VRAC. I am happy with the quality, tho’ I would prefer to construct a hopper and avoid all the plastic bags.

We’re a long, long way from the Jura, while the individual unit cost of Brazeco’s pallet price quoted for the Aveyron is €7.50, the same as for a single 15kg bag of good quality pellets from our local Bricorama (not usually my DIY store of choice)

However, if you have their store card, Bricorama give a €5 voucher on a 10 bag purchase , so we’re currently picking up 10 bags each time we’re in town, using our vouchers and getting the pellets for €7 a bag. I imagine this applies nationwide.

Our local Bricomarche have had lots of 15kg bags for some weeks at a bit under 7 euros, more than I paid, but competitive. I have however seen a french article suggesting profiteering, and that the price should be settling back to closer to 5 euros a bag before the winter. I wanted to buy locally sourced because it should in the long term reduce carbon and fuel costs, otherwise I might have been tempted to wait.

Our local tree surgeon (who has a poêle a granulés) was incensed at what he saw as naked profiteering from suppliers over the past few months. He is worried the prices won’t really fall until after the pre-winter demand has been met.
