I live alone here, my choice. But I have a core of friends (English and French) in the area who I know well. No one asked me what I would be doing for Xmas. But a couple who are "clients", but becoming friends invited me to theirs for dinner. I was very touched, but it makes you think who would really be there for you if you needed someone.
