You Tube Recipes

There are some interesting and useful recipes on YouTube but they are a real pain to watch. I am sure you know the sort of thing I mean e.g. a 30 minute video with sharp animated graphics and eloquent dialogue, designed to extract maximum monetised clicks, explaining how to make buttered toast or perhaps watch someone carefully peel EVERY potato they use in a recipe.

Firstly, I watch YouTube using Brave Browser to get rid of tedious YouTube adverts. I then accidentally discovered today that if, while watching, you hit Ctrl +B (using win 11) a side window pops up to show something called Leo AI. It invites you to request a summary of the video to save you wading through it. You can leave the video running while reading the summary to see if it may be worth watching to the bitter end.

More importantly, if it is interesting, I like to record a note of the recipe. I have my own preferred format in which I like to record recipes. For example, I like all measurements shown also to be converted to grams. (I can’t be bothered with measuring spoons, calibrated cups and graduated jugs – I only use digital scales). I have a file on my desktop, describing in nauseating detail how I like my recipes laid out, which I simply copy into the question box and then ask Leo to convert the YouTube recipe to my attached format. I only have to copy it from there to my recipe book.

I have a super short attention span, so I only watch the short ones. Have you seen the ones that are basically click bait? Like, really disgusting ingredients? So bad…

Your method sounds effective.
