I keep away from Walther Presents after getting into a couple of mysteries which were cut off for some reason and I assumed that I had to pay to download the rest in some way. Outraged I dumped them. How do you watch it, as normal right through to the end on Channel 4, or some other way?
I’ve been watching a UK series on Netflix - The Other One. Laugh so hard I get asthma. I can recommend for a hearty distraction.

A minimalist short story was written in 1853 called Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street by Herman Melville, about a ‘loony’ office employee who began to say “I’d prefer not to” when given a task to do.
It was adapted to film as an allegory – the emptiness of bureaucratic life, and more.
Brought up to date in 2001 this film version is advertised as a drama/comedy and includes the glamourous Vivian – there are no women in the book - but the film does follow the essential elements of the book. I found it funny, weirdly compelling and tragic.
There was something about the actor playing Bartleby that rang a bell – took a long time to recall but got there in the end - he played George McFly in Back to the Future.
‘Landman’. A ten episode series on high octane life on a Texan oil field. By the creator of Yellowstone.
Compelling but I think this one could have shown a bit more respect for women, but maybe necessary as is to show the gritty nature of oil men.
Has anybody seen the Jill Halfpenny/Rupert Penry Jones TV series The Feud, the final of which was last night? Can’t make my mind up about it but not helped by inadvertantly missing the 5th of 6 episodes. ![]()
An oldie from 2014 that I missed originally called The Game, all about spies in the Cold War. Starring Brian Cox as Daddy, the head of MI5.
Available on iPlayer if you’ve got a VPN…
The Game, Episode 1: The Game - Episode 1 - BBC iPlayer
I use a 4k max firestick, far superior to all my old ones. Signed up to all uk apps when living in uk years ago. Use uk vpn to watch here no problems. Also pay a small fee, £3 ish to play ad free. I still have a uk postal address. I have my firestick clock set to uk time. It is necessary but can’t remember why. Advised by amazon to change it. I pay French amazon for the subscription.
Oh I see, I just watch on the telly, nothing to pay but they didn’t warn me that I had to get it all.
You do not have to be in uk to download uk apps such as iplayer onto your Firestick . You do need to have an Amazon.co.uk account even if you never use it. You also need to go into that account and set uk as your country where you buy digital media (I believe this is for Amazon’s tax purposes) . I seem to remember having to do this to get English books on Kindle. You still need a VPN set to UK but I have not found it necessary to change the clock (although some people report that the VPN police can use this as a way of detecting geolaction avoidance)

Amazon and tax aren’t words I usually associate together.
Saying that, I used to work for Vodafone who were just as bad.
Back on topic… Finally started Black Doves last night. Good so far, but only watched one episode.
Yes it was amazing how many people’s jobs in Vodafone moved to Luxembourg.
Astrid et Raphaelle.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, it is some years old, but I have only just discovered Episodes on BBC and am laughing my way through all the series with Ventolin. Excellent scripts. And, who knew Matt Le Blanc was funny? (Or well endowed
)
Just finished enjoying a Netflix 8 part series
The Four Seasons
A remake of a film with Alan Alda.
Is this thread only for series, or can it be used for one off movies?
Started the fourth series “Long Way Home” last night. 1970’s retro bikes used this time. Gonna be good but being rationed at the moment. All the same director/producer and camera man again too.
I remember that now you have mentioned it, was it a story of annual infidelity or was that something else. The title ‘Same Time Next Year’ has come into my head. ![]()
Story of a group of couples who know each other for years and one couple gets a divorce. Puts a spanner into the group dynamics.
Filmed over 4 seasons to music by vivaldi.
OK a different one then but I’ll keep my eye out for it. ![]()
