On Netflix France I watched for the second time ‘Ladies in Black’. Set in Sydney during ‘59-60 about the lovely employees at an upmarket store. So evocative of the age and social innocence.

I know this isn’t visual (unless you were in the audience) but I am very pleased at the new radio series by Nathalie Haynes (I think that is her name) explaining and taking the mick out of the classics.
Just listened to her story of Nero, Priceless.
Not sure as have not seen it but I think he meant lack of violence and strong words and too fussy. Will have to watch it later as have it on the TV
Is that the one where a fat woman is trying to squeeze into a dress several sizes too small and a young assistant traps her flab in the zip hence calling for the supervisor to kowtow to the woman and force the zip

I’d find that quite refreshing, so often the violence is simply gratuitous and overly explicit. I prefer the violence to be implicit rather than gory.
I don’t care about strong words so much.
I’m not sure I’d call any of that “woke”.
Different generation I suppose. He and my daughter said the new remake of The Living Dead was very good as the original Bruce Campbell one is badly dated now
Maybe an American thing, too. Lots of explicit, gratuitous violence but don’t dare show a nipple.
Of course, that’s ignoring the huge American porn industry but I’m talking about the mainstream.

Yes could be. They don’t even show a bare bum over there yet guts hanging out of soldiers in Vietnam is full technicolour. I shall watch The Odyssey later this evening
We watched a reasonably entertaining series advertised as 6 episodes on Channel 5 called “Crow Girl”. At the end of the last episode with storylines unresolved, was an announcement “, to be continued”. This was followed by an announcement that the final episode was available on Paramount – a paid for channel. WHAT A CON!
Is this the start of a new marketing technique where you are lured into investing viewing times for a transmission only to find later that you have to pay to see the end?
The channel 5 app has been deleted from my firestick.

No it is not a new thing, some years ago I watched several series listed as ‘Walter Presents’. They similarly left me hanging although I don’t remember being asked to pay but as a result I simply ignore anything marked Walter Presents.
I watched the first episode of Crow Woman but was not impressed so watched no more. Very pleased to learn what a good move that was.

Indeed. I love the film maybe because that post war sense was what I always liked about Sydney.
Also, the character Faye reminds me of my dear friend who died there of cancer last year. She looked just like that in the same period.
Did you watch? The Guardian is talking about fake streaming sites and being infected with malware. Hope all well.
Just finished viewing the third and final programme in this series (all episodes available online) and think you and @Vero might enjoy it

Which one? I know I can find Lucy Mangan perplexing, I’m still trying to figure the drivers behind her likes and dislikes.
I’m enjoying Furious at the moment. My wife and I are bonding over its ‘man hating’!
I miss intermissions. It’s a long film isn’t it? Imho, a film has to be top drawer to get me past the 100 minute mark. Like the perfect pop song having to be under 3 minutes. Or maybe I just have a short attention span. I digress, a bit.
I saw Dunkirk at London’s IMAX and loved the entire experience; the film, the cinema. A bit freaky at first being quite so close to an enormous screen but you get why as the film rolls. Immersive is the word.
It was just a collection of international productions aired on C4’s online platform and selected by Walter Iuzzolino.
It’s possible C4 only secured the rights to a single series where more had originally been available or occasionally the show might have been cut (not Walter Presents but we quite enjoyed Jean Reno in Jo until the last minute decision to cut the show**).
The French version of Patience - Astrid et Raphaëlle was aired under the WP banner.
I don’t think the intent was to leave you dangling.
**: To be fair it was a bit formulaic but little with Jean Reno in it is actually unwatchable.
