Your film or TV series recomendations (2021 TV binge)

It took my brother 7 years to persuade me to watch Breaking Bad and in the end I capitulated, only to discover the greatest series ever produced. 62 episodes (took me 3 months) of sheer entertainment and fabularity.
Okay, a little violent at times but stunning nevertheless.

Really looking forward to this. I adored the original and have them all on dvd. Very excited to see if this version is good.

I’d tagged @james about a TV series for us to watch - not your views on Saudi (which I happen to totally agree with btw!)

You asked Team Higginson to move it from the new thread you created to which he responded he couldn’t do other than to delete it and for you to add it to the correct thread (this one).

The best petrol head film ever?

There’s a longer/more detailed description somewhere but can’t find it for a second. It has been posted to SF previously.

… and just as the series kicks off, Diana Rigg (Mrs Pumphrey) falls off her perch - who will now look after Tricki woo?

“Bosch”, from the 20 or so novels by author Michael Connelly with Titus Welliver in the main role. I have not enjoyed a “cop” show so much since “Homicide”. Great writing/dialogue and wonderful filming.

Unfortunately Amazon have confirmed Season 7 as the final one - sometime in 2021 with luck.

I took 160odd 17- and 18-year-olds to see it when it came out

Currently binge watching Bosch, definitely recommend it. Michael Connelly’s style reminds me of Joseph Wambaugh (ex LA cop) a particular favourite read from the seventies/eighties.

@Dawnt OH enjoyed Bosch so much he’s got withdrawal symptoms now he’s binge watched all the series, so he has started reading the books on his computer and opening up Google maps to see where the scenes are set.
Sadly, although I thought they were very well done I found there were just too many gruesome murders and I stopped watching.

I hope some of them were inspired to specialise in maths!

About half were science specialists.

Watched the first two episodes of “Ratched” last night. Just a little too far fetched for me to “suspend my disbelief”. (I loved “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest” both book and film though). Well acted and beautiful scenes of the West coast of California around Big Sur but just too much for me - very gory at the very beginning for those of a sensitive nature - that would be too much for you!
