Following on from certain friends on here reminding me of my propensity to fall over, I must alert them to the fact that damage does not always arrive from below.
I write to you now with a small trickle of brain matter leaking onto my forehead.
I’ll shorten the story:
Discovering this morning that I had not given Jules his pill because I had not left it out last night to remind me, I took the little container out of the overhead cabinet. Losing my grip on it I made a grab with the only result that one of the 2 pills soared into the air and landed, I thought, on the floor.
Down on my knees searching without success I thought perhaps I was wrong and that it was on the counter top, thus regaining my feet while quite forgetting that the cabinet door was still open, I received a sharp tap on the bonce. After the usual curses I made it to the bathroom mirror to see the brain matter emerging, it was red I admit, but how would there be room for blood in my head?
The flow has stopped now due, I am sure to my superior brain power operating at source.
But I have a plan:
Baby Foam Table Corner Protector, 500cm x 80mm x 8mm Thick Soft Foam Furniture Edge Protection Self Adhesive Edge Protector for Baby/Kids Kits Off White
Just have to decide whether to stick it on all sharp corners in the house, or to wrap it round my head. If the latter, those of you who have met me might not wonder why I appear to be wearing Arab headress.
Pill was found on the floor and is now, with the help of chevre cheese, inside Jules.
My wife is a cabinet and fridge door leave opener. I have lost count how many times a similar accident to yourself David and why the incredibly simple task of closing the bloody thing doesn’t happen? Now you want to add something so you don’t hurt yourself as badly but are not dealing with the basic of close the door.
Ah, well that is down to memory, which at the moment in my case extends to the dizzying length of 2 seconds.
So sadly that means that not only will I forget to shut the door, I will also forget to wrap my head in protection.
That reminds me, a moment ago I spotted a giant spindly spider on the wall just above my screen. He looked as if he was heading downwards and they all have strict instructions to stay above, so I reached over and touched his foot. He did not scuttle back up in the usual manner but raised the foot very threateningly in the air, pointed at me.
Do I have revolution to cope with as well now?
I can’t see him anywhere now, he is lurking somewhere, I know he is.
I totally sympathise David - I have not yet learned where all the sharp corners and finger traps are in Di’s kitchen but am gradually discovering them one by one.
I currently have two scrapes on my head from cupboard doors and a sore thumb caused by closing a dishwasher door on it…
Removing the shopping from the car one day, OH decided to shut the boot while my head was still in it! She claimed it was accidental. It made quite an impression…
Horrors, one of my daughters did that and it bled like mad, suddenly her head was covered in scarlet nail-varnished looking ringlets. Scalp wounds spout, obv, but a shock even when you know that. Total Banquo’s ghost, her sisters had a whale of a time saying shake not thy gory locks at me. So ghoulish, children. Lucky the floor is tiled.
No idea, how should I know amongst all the women of a certain age I have round here, can hardly keep up.
@vero I was lucky, really lucky, with all the thinners I have to take daily, the slightest graze can make it look like a murder scene here, but it stopped after just a trickle, there’s still a bump there but only a tiny little scab.
