@cat @billybutcher Hi both. I am a new user and, after my initial experience, I don’t want to be! So may I ask that you delete my only thread and delete my account. Many thanks.
Classic, we can’t even blame John Scully because he’s sodded off as well.![]()
Or has he? ![]()
Schrödinger’s Irishman… ![]()
I’m sure he’ll be around to rabbit in his usual way.
I’m in the clear too! Go me!
I missed all the bouhaha and the late Anon’s posts. But personally, notwithstanding the poor service of French banks in general, I’d be loath to have anything to do with a French bank’s service called “Britline”. I prefer rencontres en face à face.
Exactly my train of thought and experience. A face to a name, you cannot beat it
Agreed, as rule.
Late last year, I opened an account with LCL purely because there was an agency in the town where we were buying a house. I liked the idea of walking into an actual premises and speaking to an actual person. My dedicated client advisor (I presume they weren’t mine alone) was indeed very helpful, and a kindly person to boot (not that I did that). Sadly, I was having to speak to them too often.
It seemed everything I wanted to do at LCL required their intervention for some reason or other, either to nudge a process along or get around a limitation. Yes it was great they were there to do that for me… but I’d rather they hadn’t had to in the first place. I closed the account after 2 months because I grew tired, in effect, of having to speak to them.
CA is similar, that just seems to be the way of banking in France, protecting you from yourself.
Where did you go instead?
I didn’t. I had a Bourso account already and I was trialing LCL to potentially replace it.
what did I miss?
it was an astonishingly exciting action-packed thread in which Our Hero complained about BritLine and was mildly contradicted, at which point he took his toys home. ![]()
You didn’t miss much.
Oh. I posted on that in aupport of the OP. How on earth did toys get taken home? it was a perfectly valid criticism and I find French consumer banking generally appalling
He took offence at some of the comments (not sure which) and asked for the post and his account to be deleted.
Oh dear Too fragile (or too nice) for the internet then
Mais oui, the two often go hand-in-hand. The internet can be a nasty place for those who prefer to tread lightly.
I think it very difficult to assess intended tone from the written word so think it best both to pause before reacting AND give huge amounts of leeway. Never assume you know what someone’s meaning is. Certainly, I’m not the most robust of folk and find I need to close the laptop from-to-time
Just wanted affirmation and a pat on the back.
Oh, you are a hard man AM
TBH the response was disproportionate with the disagreement, so it’s hard to conclude otherwise.
