All the pipework here now on new lotissements is not buried, merely fixed in the vide sanitaire so accessible. It becomes buried at the edge of the kitchen where there are two capped upright pipes and these have now been cut down and had a concrete box and lid put over them but the pipes themselves go down into the earth to join the network at the end of the drive and then off to the sewage works or wherever they go. My problem and the same for several other locals is the fact that the builders never fixed said plastic pipes to the concrete Dalle on which the houses are built 1.5m above ground level and over time the weight of toilet paper and water where they have bowed and dropped has caused all this trouble. The insurers have insisted the plumber strengthens the layout and have paid me to have this done. I can hear him drilling away under my feet as I type
The Service ImpĆ“ts have finally accepted that we donāt need to pay tax dāhabitation on top of the CFE we already pay for our gĆ®te. Pleased!
I know others have had this dumped on them for 2025 with change of laws, so may be of interest to know that they conceded. Used taxe de sƩjour payments to show it was rented year round, and of course our Siren and business accounts.
After Covid (2023) we decided we were brave enough to eat out and sought our favourite creperie to find, to our horror, that they had sold up (as so many restaurants in our area did). But we decided to try the new ownersā menu and were sorely disappointed. I posted onto Tripadvisor to beware that all the rave reviews related to the previous owners and that the newbies had a lot to learn. I was tracked down and received a vitriolic response from the new owner, so never went back, until tonight.
We decided to eat out as it was such a lovely evening but found the place where we wanted to go was closed and, trying to find somewhere else, finished in front of the creperie and, all else failing, decided to try it again 3 years on.
It was super. The galettes were light and crisp, the fillings interesting, the cider good. They accepted Rona with a good grace (who behaved beautifully). We will go back.
All in all a good evening. And arriving home, looked up to see a million stars in an ink-black clear sky.
Thatās good, hope you leave another review for the new owners ![]()
Well done @SuePJ
Glad weāre back on track with some Cheerful/Good News ![]()
Brilliant sunshine today⦠and so many clouds of insects that the birds must be happy, eating their fill!
Yesterday was so sunny and warm, for the first time this year we didnāt have the heating on and the windows were all wide open until about 4pm.. when the chill did descend a bit, so we shut the windows and lit the fire. ![]()
Love seeing the flames leaping and hear the logs cracklingā¦
Sounds lovely. Weāve got clear skies and sunshine in Angleterre sud this morning, but I also had to scrape the windscreen because of the frost. Mornings like this are great.
ā¦I cleared some standing rainwater off the cover to our Baine Nordique into a nearby bush. Almost immediately, I hear a tree frog croaking away!..
It must have gotten very excited about Spring, water and the prospect of āmeetingā other frogs in a sort of cozy way. ![]()
Not seen a frog yet but yesterday several newts popped for a gulp of air in the bottom pond. As I arrived to watch them, a half metre long couleuvre snake wriggled across at high speed from under my view point, thereby demonstrating he does not think that he is the most dangerous wildlife in the vicinity. ![]()
Wowā¦.would love to see that!
Simply a lovely day here again, and I managed a 20min walk by the canal.
Iāve just been notified that I have a guitar arriving from Germany tomorrow. ![]()
What are you getting, if you donāt mind saying?nothing beats getting a new guitar.
My friends husband (Ricky) in the UK has just bought himself another Gretch guitar. Heās in a rock-a-billy band and I used to go with the band and family to gigs back in the 90ās. Jackie and I used to really enjoy jiving and we would spend all night dancing along to the music. What fun that was - absolutely no chance of me jiving nowadays. My legs are too wobbly, and I suffer from vertigo so Iād really be in a spin after Jackie made me do one of her triple turns!
I get my pleasure at the moment in watching Nils and Bianca on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/c/NilsandBianca . Have a look at their dancing. Itās absolutely incredible. We werenāt that good, but in our day weād have given them a run for their money.
Itās only a cheapie, but I donāt have anything with P90 pickups - they had a B stock return which kept dropping in price until it reached Ā£170 at which point I gave in.
If as I hope, the reason for return was cosmetic then Iāll just do a setup and enjoy it. If thereās a serious flaw that affects playing then it comes with a right to return and it will go back. I was thinking to set it up for slide work because Iāve been playing slide more than anything else for the last 10 years, but the band has fewer gigs right now, so weāll see.
I love what HB do at the place the neck meets the body.
I love P90s. I have a Revstar with them.
Well worth a punt at that price, got my fingers crossed itās just cosmetic but great you can return if more serious. I like playing slide, just donāt do enough of it right now, still working on finger picking.
If youād been prepared to pay just a little moreā¦
I often have 2 of them up in the top pond when I am swimming there, but they are nervous of me and try to avoid me if they can. With this fine weather I am dying to get back in but it is too deep to do anything but swim in and still with one useless arm Iād just be spinning in circles. ![]()
@Rachel05 The only dance I can do well, it was our great joy, Fran and I, to Jive but, unlike those two, who are great btw, we didnāt practice and developed our own routine as we went along. Our piece de resistance was when I would spin too, holding her hand high above my head and then let go. It would drop to my shoulder and then, as we drifted apart her hand would slide down my outstretched arm 'till our fingers clasped at the end. She never fell. I loved Jiving and hated the Twist when it came along, whatās the point of a dance where you hardly, or never, get to hold the girl? ![]()
I might be missing something, but I think Trucks is playing an SG, not a pointy monstrosity.
Well, if I was going to up the budget a little then I might as well have had Gilmourās black strat. ![]()
Over the years Iāve been lucky enough to own a variety of instruments, and found price doesnāt always match playability or tone. I definitely favour Japanese made instruments over American.
