My good news too really. My son lived in Bangkok for many years but now lives in Macau but flies to visit his girlfriend in Bangkok every weekend. So the minute I heard of it I messaged him to ask him if he was going and has he heard from Kirsty. The reply was immediate that he had spoken to her and that she was ok (she lives in a high rise) but she was hurrying home from work to check on the cats.
I haven’t had an update for them and for once Davey was not going there and at the moment is at 30,000 feet approaching the Kyrgystan border on his way to Amsterdam. So really good news but still worried about the cats and Kirsty’s abode.
Very well done and many congratulations. Sadly I only just scraped through with a pearl anniversary but at least I got that far and have the memories for ever.
Best wishes to you both. A bouquet of roses, very nice. We always knew the date and marked it quietly but never made a big fuss about it and never quite made it to our 40th.
My son arrived safely over night in Amsterdam and when I got up tried to track him onward to Birmingham but they changed the flight number. I caught up with him over the north sea and they took a massive deviation over Norfolk before turning south west over Doncaster towards Brum.
He is reunited with his 2 children there and in about an hour’s time will take off again for Dublin where he will spend the weekend with them. I envy the travelling but not the flying.
My wife doesn’t know the date of our anniversary and is completely unfussed about it. Given that we only got married so that we could get a house on a work posting, rather than an apartment, I can live with it
I seem to have found one of my baking holy grails, that of baking bread which remains pleasant to eat for 4 to 5 days. It requires making a porridge with whole grains, usually pearl barley in this case, and scalding a portion of the flour to alter the starch structure plus high hydration. We’ve just finished the loaf I baked late Tuesday night and it was all good. Today’s bake will be a white loaf to see if I can get 3 days from that, white bread aging faster than brown.
Obviously, just what I thought.
All 3 arrived safely in Dublin mid afternoon, time for Davey to claw back his jet lag and for me to embark on a very strange voyage here. More later.
Today is a double celebration.
Our daughter was born on my birthday (albeit a few years apart ) and we’ve all been singing over the internet… with much fun and laughter.
