This year I bought 50 stère of wood, I didnât really need it for this winter but got my eye on a wood boiler and some storage tanks.

Like AM and Mikey, weâve been sleeping with the upstairs windows open during the night. Weâve not needed to put up the mosquito screens in the (not so) new house⌠but for the past few days weâve shared the house with some noisy grillons / crickets. Theyâve been driving us crazy but tonight I finally managed to catch and release the final one

Unexpected good news this morning. My globe wandering son whose midnight flight to Bordeaux was delayed and was not expected to arrive 'till this afternoon,
This morning at 5 I was awakened by a text which simply said âHi Dadâ. 
I replied 'where are you? and dropped off again waiting for an answer.
Having breakfast after 8 I idly checked FB again and found to my surprise that I appear to be reinstated, so I messaged briefly the same question again.
The surprising response was âThiviers, having a coffee opposite the train stationâ
If only he had answered my first reply at 5 I might have been ready for him. Obviously there wasnât a bus to Brantome but he managed a train to Thiviers.
Typical of him, he reminds me of me in my 20s wandering Australia without a thought to keep my Mum up to date, but he is 50 .

I canât keep up with all you guys and your wit about cricket. So Iâll just say that my cheerful news is that we had our first tomato of the season. We grow St Pierre and they are good tasting tomatoes. Stuart picked 3 that were nice and red - just ready to eat (on their own with salt after cheese and raw onion sandwiches). Yummy Yummy in our tummy

The Cathar fortresses in Aude have now been added to the UNESCO world heritage list. Iâve only been to four of them (or seven as Lastours is made up of four fortresses) so maybe visits to the other four may be in order.

Iâm pleased about that. But they arenât going to be called Cathar any more? I donât see why not.
