It seems the foreigners 
put a lot of emphasis on the 2nd syllable making one word into two. Well thats how I see (hear) it.
That would be normal French pronunciation for a two-syllable word.

Its curious and quite endearing to me, in the UK the second syllable can be skipped over quite quickly.
OH wanted to hire a concrete vibrator (long thin needle that you insert into deep concrete to spread the interior about and force any water to the surface) so sent me upto Loxam which at that time of day was full of men bringing back their hired bits and pieces. Imagine the laughter when I asked at the desk to hire a metre long vibrator which we thought was called that, unfortunately for me it had another name but it gave everyone one hell of a laugh. No wonder OH waited in the lorry for me

Sympathies, I’m sure we’ve all done it. That’s why I check online to make sure I know what the right word is.
Years ago my BIL was in a local merchants after some garden hose and asked for a large bit
The owner called an english friend to explain.

My son’s mother is French so he grew up surrounded by both languages. When we were still living in France (we flip flopped between the two for a few years) he swore for the first time by saying how daddy was taking him to “the f***ing swimming pool”. He must have been about 3 or 4 years old so had no grasp of what the f-word meant but had clearly heard me say it. I got in so much shit from his mother for that

My new Mac Laptop arrived today, so well packed against the world that my learning curve with it will seem immediate in comparison.
It is sleek, silver grey and has a little doodad sellotaped to it.
The name of the sender is on it too, funny, I was sure it was @Roger Lapin who gifted it to me. 
Anyway, thank you err Roger I have sent a runner with the news to Eddie who is waiting in the wings to reveal all.

Curses my secret is out, I only wanted to pretend to refer to him 
Anyway, just had a little play and the first thing to work out is how to make all the text bigger. 
A quick way that I use is to press CONTROL and the + (Plus) sign on the right of the number pad. And if you want to decrease the size you do CONTROL and the - (Minus) sign. I don’t know if it’s the same on all PCs, Macs or phones but that’s what I do.

Yesterday I cleaned the fridge out and got rid of loads of stuff that I didn’t even know was in there.
Today I’ve just finished defrosting and cleaning out the freezer. Besides nearly falling in to the chest freezer when scraping the ice (some of it I swear was 2 inches thick), I’ve now got sore boobs where I was leaning over to scoop up all the ice at the bottom. But I’ve managed to get rid of so much food that I don’t know why I put it in in the first place.
I’ve made 3 black bags of rubbish from the unwanted contents. And tonight is ‘bin night’ so that’s perfect timing as far as I’m concerned.
Now I need to fill it up again which I will do because Thursday is Lidl shopping day and there’s bound to be some choc ices or ice cream on promo. I don’t need sorbet - I’ve got 11 tubs of the stuff

It works on this PC but not on the Mac.
David, just got this from google :
To increase the text size system-wide on a Mac, open the Apple menu > System Settings > Accessibility > Display, and click Text Size to adjust the slider. You can also change your overall display resolution to make everything larger or zoom in inside individual apps.

Glad it arrived safe David. The little doodad is an adapter. Apple laptops had (and have again) magnetic charging connectors so that if you accidentally pull the cable the machine doesn’t crash to the floor. I’ve disposed of the original charger but the adapter allows you to use any USB C charger.

IIRC Apple uses Cmd (command) instead of control: Command key (⌘)
