I have replaced the ancient thermal paste and pads on my graphics cards and itās now running nice and cool again.
The several not insignificant amount of dust removed from the case and fans canāt have hurt either.

It is surprising how the paste dries over time, certainly a good maintenance point and the new greases are even better spec wise. Which reminds me to advertise my old processor chip this afternoon.

Filled the car this morning for the first time since arriving: about 630 miles from 47.3 litres, which the car reckons is about 60.3mpg.

I would like to like that but at Ā£15-Ā£20 for the same in a pure EV? Ok you would have to stop twice

At risk of triggering the debate once again, anyone sensible whoās driving 630 miles would be stopping twice no matter the propulsion method.

Absolutely, although they might choose to stop for long enough to get a bio-break and a quick jump about outside the car rather than 30min or more for each recharging stop. And to keep the cost below the price of hydrocarbons you would need to leave the autoroute (which I know some do from choice) and not use a fast charger
The thing that is key with EV use seems to be planning and leaving plenty of time. Iāve been watching more YouTube on EVs recently, particularly those doing longer trips on motorways, and often the cost is actually slightly higher than petrol, let alone diesel, for the mileage covered. If I had to refuel my car on the motorway then it would be more expensive to runā¦ But I donāt.
Probably something like an Enyaq with 85kwh battery. Real world summer range about 300 careful motorway miles or maybe just a bit less.
Total stations price is the same in all garages even on motorways in France.

Sadly a lot of journalist do manage not to have the particular discount membership card for a lot of fast chargers although in the UK I believe its Electroverse with the big 300kw chargers charging 98p per kilowatt which is exorbitant. France is a lot less although I havenāt looked recently, (note to self) .
Edit, 100 and 200kw chargers 60-70 cents per kw. That means a bit more cost than my original guestimate.

Indeed, as one tank is emptying, another in the same vehicle is becoming full - now if we could productively apply AI to this situation, many of the worldās current problems might be solvedā¦

There continues to be a wave of petty vandalism and theft in our nearby town. A local yob has helpfully published on his FB page a photo from his bedroom showing a couple of (nicked) posts marking the entrance to a lane. He also published a photo of himself illegally riding his scrambler bike on a ride in the childrenās playground. His mum was incensed that the photos were reposted by the Maire. To the amusement of many, she revealed the name of the family by giving her full name on FB. The Gendarmerie Nationale is now taking a close interestā¦

So letās do some sums.
630 miles at 4mile/kWh (perhaps a little generous) = 157kwh. At 60 cents per kWh thatās 94.2 euros.
New you would do that AM, you leave home with a full battery charged for very little so subtract the first leg of 280 miles from your calcs. Then you are only topping up the charge for the remaining parts of the journey.
