Any cheerful news today? (Nothing negative please! šŸ™‚) (Part 2)

We had a pool in France and they used to fly over the water and drink it. It seemed a bit odd to me, but I’ve seen it elsewhere?

What I saw was them flying very low, skimming or almost skimming the surface, because that was where the flies were. So eating rather than drinking. But they must also drink, I suppose, and would certainly have the aerodynamic skills to graze the surface.

They also wash themselves, skimming low and touching the water with their bellies.

For fans or people that want to give the guy a hearing, Walter Isaacson’s biography of Elon Musk, very highly rated 4.7, is on Amazon Kindle today only for Ā£0.99p

Typing B0BW9VML42 in Search box will find it

Andy Burnham’s own book ā€œHead Northā€ written in 2024 about what he’d like to do to solve Britain’s problems is also available for Ā£0.99p. Let’s see how that shapes up with what we see from 2026.

B0BZ3ZKFTZ will find it.

They are delicious !

This is meant to be the cheerful news thread, Beany?

Yes.

Musk lost!

Which begs the question - why would Musk want the ability to show nude images of minors. I remember when he called the caver who rescued all those boy scouts in Thailand a pervert.

It’s probably very basic that he’s a free speech absolutist, when it comes to his free speech. He doesn’t feel that there should be any constraint on him at all.

Wasn’t his father accused of sexually abusing his kids and step-kids over a rather long period of time, and all Elon had to say about it was something like ā€œHe’s a very troubled personā€?

They are a very strange family.

I’d worry about his kids, any parent that thinks sexual exploitation of kids has something seriously wrong with them.

Yesterday morning around 10am, the village was eerily silent and deserted , no people, no cars, no birds and no planes in the skies.

I walked from one end of the main street to the other and wondered if I was actually asleep and merely dreaming.

Phew, I walked the same route at 6.30pm and I was obviously wide awake.
House martins swooped in chaotic formations, a neighbour was pottering in his garden. I was even pleased when a couple of cars came hurling around the blind bend and made me jump. (normally I’d mumble curses).

And the icing on the cake… the Black Sack bin which usually needs a ā€œpaid forā€ card to open it…
this time it opened of its own accord … an unexpected freebee !

So all’s well with the world… hurrah.

Doesn’t Dad Musk live in Putinland?

I have just started reading Musk’s biography which was on sale Friday for .99c in Kindle format. It is not a pretty read so far.

I think he still lives in S Africa, though often travels to Russia ā€˜on business’.
He took Yaxley-Lennon there earlier this year to discuss the migration problem in the UK with Russian far right leaders!

Rather you than me, Mik! :slightly_frowning_face:

If you could summarise it for us when you have finished, I have an issue even handing over .99c to the richest git in the world

I think today only.
