Any cheerful news today? (Nothing negative please! šŸ™‚) (Part 2)

I’ll have a look there… it will certainly save me hassle.

No, I can’t make it, can’t be faffed as we like the Sharwoods one so much.

@AngelaR you’re lucky… we’ve searched all the shops we visit, for a few years now. Used to find it but not any more…

We have noticed quite an increase in British Products in Leclerc and similar outlets … and I peer closely but not found the chutney…

I did too until I tried home made stuff !!! Chop up some mangos, throw in pan with some spices, simmer, job done!

Well, seems there’s even more cheerful news… I’ve got another LeClerc to visit and tear apart in my search for Sharwood Chutney

Second that! It’s great.

Worth the naughtiness of mango purchasing?:rofl:

15-16 degrees and sunny here. Feels like the winter is giving way to spring and lots of new growth.

You’re missing out… It’s been a great game so far, but Dupont was injured which is worrying for Les Bleus.

In other shocking news Trump Resort in Turnberry has been vandalised. As an Ayrshire lad myself, I’m outraged. Outraged I tell you.

Sorry, just saw this as we basically hit the road this morning. Thanks for the offer and perhaps next time as we want to visit the area properly.

And very much better than Sharwoods!

Although thinking about it, if you’re such devotees of the Sharwoods variety, the home made could prove to be a bit too tasty for you

 I’m not a devotee… we ran out of sharwoods a few years ago (certainly before covid). It is just something we used to enjoy with a homemade curry, especially the mango with chilli and the lime pickle (I think that’s what it was, it had an extra kick).

Went to the market today (it’s a really lovely market… where we used to live only had a shit one) and they had French strawberries for sale. Think they said they’re from L&G. Had them with some cheesecake - also from the market, and French style stuff… not the sort with a biscuit base. Was very yummy!

We also picked up some white asparagus, but I’m not a fan so it doesn’t belong in the cheerful news.

Super expensive. Auchan sell both white and orange at around 19 euros a kilo.

When I buy these cheeses from the man at the local market I always ask for the oldest most mature version.

One day I asked for a Camembert for a special recipe and the cheese man asked if I wanted an old one. I was surprised because I thought Camembert only came ready to go in a little box and were all the same.

He started opening each Camembert box and studied the cheese closely.

ā€œYou must know a lot about cheeseā€ I said, ā€œwhat are you looking for? … the smell, the texture, the colour?ā€

ā€œNo ā€œ he replied ā€œI’m just checking the sell by dateā€
[/quote] Great punch line.

Donkeys years ago, driving back to UK from a day out in France… we found out the hard way… that having an unripe camembert on the back seat in a warm car… can deliciously (but muckily) ripen this wonderful cheese.

Cheerful news is that I’ve finally located OH’s medical folder… which we’ve been searching for ever since Friday evening… ready for his appointment with the surgeon on Monday.

The house has been turned upside down… and I’ve checked and double checked all his medical files and envelopes…

Just now, a helpful House Elf has obviously waved its magic wand, 'cos I found it ā€œjust like thatā€ in a pile which I’d thoroughly searched again and again. :+1:

Not me personally but some news from Canada made me feel quite glad

Canada’s National Ballet to perform Swan Lake with swans in bare legs. I also love the varied skin coloured point shoes.

Progress can be beautiful, as well as liberating!

All though this method does not apply to your search for medical records I long ago discovered that the easiest and quickest way to find anything that was mislaid /lost was to buy another, within a very short time the object re-appeared as the ā€œHouse Elfā€ gave it up.
