Any cheerful news today? (Nothing negative please! šŸ™‚) (Part 2)

The Trump Turnberry links are a far greater and unfortunately far less temporary piece of environmental vandalism.

We had a lot of rain yesterday, still under strict drought regulations though. I looked out of my bedroom window and there were ducks swimming on the flood basin behind the houses. Woke this morning to usual sunshine and blue skies and the flood basin has emptied, hope the ducks got away without being run over.

Thank you for the picture, I know my favourite ex ballet dancer would have agreed were she still here, and I agree too. :grinning:

First asparagus of 2025 this evening (served with magret de canard and sweet potato roasted in duck fat, then tossed in pomegranate molasses).

Good combo!

As it did in 2020 when my cousin and his friends attended. They had a great time but it should never have taken place.
Covid took him 6 weeks later.
Sorry not cheerful but sometimes we have to be reminded how cruel life can be.

Going to see the Australian Pink floyd show tonight (Caen Zenith):sunglasses:

During a recent whirlwind UK visit I stocked up on marmite. Not the real thing but Aldi’s half price equivalent. My last jar of marmite finished this morning so cracked open the Mighty jar and pleasantly surprised that it ain’t have bad.

We found that with their version of Tunnocks caramel wafers, half the price of the brand name too! Half the time, versions of originals are made by the same factory under different labelling and sizes.

I’m in the UK at the mo, but will be doing the same when I get back.

I have some in the cupboard so I’m going to try that.

I presume you mean ā€œit ain’t half badā€ā€¦ But that’s perhaps because, like Marmite, it’s all bad

I knew there was a reason why Marmite should not be introduced into a cheerful thread.

I was watching a Canadian YouTube presenter a couple of days ago and he was talking about Marmite. I didn’t know that it spread that far.

Ba-dum tish!

Really cheerful news is that as I watched a flock of Garde-Bœuf foraging in the field amongst the cows, a Common Buzzard circled majestically, way up high… obviously not interested in the white feathered beings or the cows  but presumably hoping to spot a rabbit or some such.

No matter, it was a wonderful few minutes of complete calm for me… better than any pills and potions. :+1:

This was cheerful news this evening, to start with.
Got a reply from the Geomet Expert re the bit of land I want to buy, was wondering what was happening as it is 3 weeks since they replied to my initial request and I sent them the requested info.

They wanted answers to 3 questions, the first 2 of which were:
1 Return signed the attached agreement together with 30% of €440.
2. Ring this office to make a rdv for the inspection to be carried out.

Great, something moving at last, I expected the cost as 30 years ago the charge was 300 FF and there would be inflation etc.

Then I read the last point:
3> . nous transmettre la copie de votre titre de propriété et tout document utile au bornage (plan de géomètre notamment)

How can I do that, I don’t own it yet? Something I explained to them at the outset.
Only thing I can do is ring or go to the office with the deposit and explain.
Just as I thought I was getting somewhere.

You should have got the actual or pre owners to do that to do that. Just to verify the cadastral limits & if they are still in force. Just to make sure the ²ms of alnd you are buying
