When I put my postcode into that link I get France Services Offices not the Marie. But the FS people are housed in post offices and libraries here, so maybe also in Maries?
FS are generally great.

Our Mairie plays host to FS a couple of times a month. I presume they tour the local towns, most of which have a population of well under 1000.
According to the website, it was a point d’accueil of Améli: “Nos conseillers Assurance Maladie vous accueillent dans nos agences et points d’accueil”. Surprisingly (to me, at least), we don’t have any FS people at Loudun itself.
Our FS was two shades short of useless when we spoke to them about joining the health system. Hopefully it was just an individual though I might try travelling to your office and see if it’s any better.
Let me know if I can do anything to help
They definitely are in some places. Here we have a traveling FS that goes round many communes spending a couple of weeks at each at a time and some are housed at the Maires offices.
Not counting my chickens yet but had a good interview with the new, to me, notaire lady yesterday and, after discussing the fact that Fran’s 3 children have made no answer to emailed communications since the first ones (when they thought there was immediate money to be had) she came up with some slightly hopeful news.
I don’t give a fig, because of the way they have treated us, if they confirm or refuse their successions, they will get nothing 'till I kick the bucket anyway, but it would be nice to have the €9,000 odd that I am sure is in our savings account, the one which is in her name and thus frozen 'till the succession is sorted.
She seems to think, but will consult with their lawyers to confirm it, that if she writes to each of them by snail mail (but seems to have lost their addresses) asking them to accept or refuse the succession within a designated period of time, when that period, whatever it is, is past without reply, then they automatically forfeit their inheritance and thus that one bank account can be released back to me.
As I say I am not counting my chickens because I am sure I heard that their ignoring of the notaire’s communications was because they realised that they can delay matters knowing that they only collect when I am dead and for some reason, proved by their disinterest in Fran’s health during the years of her illness, are taking out their spite on me.
Slightly cheerful news if the lawyers prove them wrong.
Bonne chance David. Such a shame you are having to deal with this f%ckwittery.
Yes, not complaining, I knew the system when we came here but it is a bit extreme to hold money back for, as I was once told, up to 10 years if there is no resolution to the succession, so any slight chance of a way to get them to accept or refuse will not be a bad thing.
Thank you, looks like I am going to need it.
Hopefully have some really cheerful news in a few hours time when the mighty Eagles thrash that Manchester team in the FA Cup final
Not having used my bicycle for months I finally changed the rear chambre à air and had a cycle alongside the River Aveyron on Tuesday arriving at a favourite swimming spot - Laguépie for a refreshing beer or two). The cycle back was even better the other side of the river. Beautiful scenery and I didn’t encounter another soul. Next day I decided to try the all uphill route to Verfeil - a delightful sleepy village for a pleasant ménu. Tried a different road back expecting a no effort coast down from this hilltop village. Wrong - another big hill first and then a freewheeling descent with glorious views. A snake crossed in front of me and disappeared before I could get a closer look. Ah, the joys of cycling on French roads in bucolic countryside with only the sounds of the air rushing past and birdsong. Last evening a trip into Saint Antonin Noble-Val to see a five piece band playing music from Angola, Capo Verde, Brazil and Columbia plus some French numbers. Everyone was dancing their socks off. If you like this music mic look out for https://youtu.be/fI5pGa7tSoo?si=W-QRgXh98YsMsJlr
Yesssssss
That’s wild - Crystal Palace used to be our local side, but were always flakey. I’m pleased for them, but slightly amazed that they should win any kind of national title.
You are not alone,
Well done CP.

Have you seen the very enjoyable Helen Mirren feel-good film, The Hundred Foot Journey (Les Recettes du bonheur) that was shot there? Recommend it, but also the CGI explained at:-

Incidentally I’m pretty sure that the Parisian CGI resto scenes are based on views from the one on the top floor of the Centre Pompidou.

The Hundred Foot Journey
[/quote] Interesting information on the CGI. Had no idea about the location. Ten years ago we were still giving France a wide berth for holidays, foolishly not questioning the myths about the French! I enjoyed the film - partly aided by the atmosphere in the excellent 80 seater cinema in Shrewsbury town centre.
We missed the turn to the hotel car park this evening and had to park round the corner.
Why is this cheerful news?
Well, the hotel wanted 50€ to park overnight, the car park we used was free
And only about 100m from the hotel.
And Bob Stokoe running down the touchline to congratulate is players.
His Sunderland had beaten someone else in a year far far away, and he wasn’t the only one overjoyed.
