Anyone else turned the CH back on?

Interesting. Do you have the Schafskälte too?

Only ever heard of it in Germany, but I’m from the Côte d’Azur so maybe even if it is a thing in other parts of France it doesn’t affect us and goes unmentioned.

Certainly talked about in Lot et Garonne

What a difference a day makes…

Boiling hot, brilliant sunshine, windows open all over the house to let the welcome warmth enter therein… hurrah… free heat!

but I’m not packing the thermals away just yet

Super photo.

What’s it called in French?

Les saints de glace 2026 se déroulent comme chaque année aux dates fixes du 11, 12 et 13 mai. Ces trois journées correspondent aux fêtes de

Saint Mamert, Saint Pancrace et Saint Servais.

In the meantime, our CH is very firmly off. Temperatures for this coming week and beyond due to be in the high teens at night and high 20s/low 30s during the day.

We won’t be needing heating either for the foreseeable.

13th May is also International Hummus Day, I found out last week.

Those are the Eisheiligen, the Saints de Glace, in May, it’s just in Germany there are two more.

It’s the Schafskälte in June that @Rachman is asking about, and I don’t know a French equivalent for it. (It’s a cold snap in middle Europe, some time between the 4th and 20th of June but I don’t think we get it in France at least not where I’m from).

I was comfy in a tee shirt outside this morning. Looks like summer is back.

Ah, misunderstood. Mind you, I do have a photo of OH plus dog watching TV on midsummer’s day one year with the log fire blazing away in the lounge. June can be chilly.

We planted herbs (me) and roses (she) yesterday.

The cat kindly fertilised a hole Madame dug for some other plant.

Walking around in a t-shirt this morning, yesterday I needed thermals

Mik, so is mine but I want to hold out or a bit longer to get a nice Engie credit from not using hardly any of my prélément this month. Will have to put it on soon though as it’s a new system and I want to make sure it works right as have already booked the plumber for a service in October ready for winter use if necessary. They use a different type of gas now, more economic and works better.

Phew, knocking 30c in the shade, so we’ve scuttled indoors. Windows now shut and the house is a gentle 21c. :+1:

Luck you!

Family on the Essex/Suffolk coast/border tell me they’re enjoying a pleasant 23c but there is often a breeze from the sea which keeps things down a bit.

Whatever, we’re all crossing-fingers for a decent BH weekend! :crossed_fingers:

I think I need to move to Norway. This is depressing. Last year at least it had the decency to hold off until June. I was escaping this kind of weather in Florida in March. At least I had real air conditioning 24/7.

Christ- Tagliacozzo, in Abruzzo Italy where I am maybe thinking of going is 23C now.
