Are internal combustion vehicles as quiet as electric vehicles?

I am a no one and mentioned it a few times although its only when I hire an EV at the moment.

It worked quite well for airships… oh, wait… :slight_smile:

I assume that’s the Ecological bonus which is not means tested. The Prime Ć  la conversion is different and is means tested. It changed in Feb 2024 as well.

It could have uses in HGVs and I’ve seen large C.E. HGVs round here that are hydrogen fuelled transporting wind turbine parts and yachts.

I just used the rate I pay for heures creuse which I use almost exclusively. I believe there are special EV tariffs in some regions. Obviously solar is a good way to go and each individual must make their own calculation.

Crude oil is running out, and fossil fuel price increases outpace electricity prices.

I would also be very nervous in investing in a new ICE because by, the time it comes to replace it, production of ICEs will have stopped and the resale value will have slumped. Also, as fewer people use fossil fuels, service stations selling it will be come more and more scarce.

My apologies Corona. I should have said ā€œfewā€ instead of ā€œno oneā€. My replies tend to be superlative heavy.

My boy racer days are long gone and now I just appreciate the comfort given by an electric ride.

Unfortunately, electricity prices in most places are tried to fossil fuel prices, regardless of the cost of generation. This needs to change, and indeed France did do this to an extent recently when energy prices spiked.

I said I love to hear the roar of such an engine, my son in law has currently a V12 Dodge Hellcat and often sends me videos of him starting her up for a run out. As for affordability, not here in Europe but in the US he just went out one morning and changed his Challenger for this model, credit payments no problem over there if you earn what he does per month.

That’s one bonkers car :sunglasses::sunglasses:

Just stick a Tesla in ludicrous mode and it will blow the doors off the dodge hell pussycat …silently.

Wasn’t the CitroĆ«n Dyane noisy in that kind of way too? aimed at a similar sort of buyer perhaps, as the Ami might be now?

The basic bonus Ć©cologique (for new vehicles only) is up to 27% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 4 000 €. Anyone can get that.

If your RFR is under 15 400 € you are entitled to a further 3K€.

You can claim the bonus more than once, but not less than every three years.

Reference here.

The maximum prime Ć  la conversion for scrapping a diesel vehicle & buying an EV (new or used) is 5K€. Your RFR must be below 24 500€ to get anything, & you can only claim it once. Below that you get 1 500€ regardless, but up to 5K€ if you qualify for other reasons - see here for the full story.

EDIT: You can have both benefits for the purchase of a new car, plus regional support.

Yes, he has to keep the red ignition key in his safe in case the car is stolen as that is the one that opens up the horsepower, the black key is ordinary everyday use.

Ah but it does not have the looks. Teslas are ugliest cars around.

Or the noise :sunglasses::+1::+1:

There are a few challengers for that title, including a new Ford EV, though I agree they are not attractive.

TBH my expectations are that it’s going to be like a twist-n-go scooter compared to a small motorcycle: the TnG will be faster, but less fun. However that’s just supposition since I haven’t driven one. I have driven automatics, including some completely bonkers stuff in the US, but wouldn’t have one as personal transport unless I couldn’t drive a manual.

Not too bad from the rear and thats all you see from a hellpussy :joy:
