Article 50 TUE/Article 18(1) Brexit CdS - 5 Year Renewal

I hadn’t noticed - useful to know. Thank you. There are times when a brief response is essential.

So, posted hubby’s dossier to the prefecture on Monday, they emailed him Friday for an appointment in 7 days time for fingerprints. This is not the France I know and love. I hope they’re as quick with mine.

That’s brilliant news Arcalia well done for your husband. Some of them are turning out to be not too bad.

Could I ask about my OH’s renewal please? His five-year CdS expires in July next year so we’re expecting he’ll need to renew in May 2026.

He’s hoping to retire at the end of next year, although it could be brought forward. We wondered if it would be easier to renew while he still has payslips, rather than relying on his current not very large occupational pension and money in his various pension pots?

Hi Jennifer there are no income or language requirements to renew an Article 50.

Thank you Kim. I knew about the language requirements not applying (OH was worried about that) but I hadn’t realised about income. That should make life easier.

Filled in my five-year warp renewal application today and found it remarkably simple (dept. 24). Mind you, I was surprised to see they wanted my parents’ dates of birth. Neither one is around to ask and I can barely remember my own birth date, let alone theirs. Luckily, I found an old passport for my mother, so could fill in that bit, but I couldn’t lay my hands on my father’s DOB. I made up a plausible date and sent it in. I may search out his real DOB and correct it if necessary. Others may want to have this information to hand when they make an online application.

Would their dates of birth be on your birth certificate.

Is he no longer alive? As should also be on his death certificate.

Indeed it is. The problem was I couldn’t locate his death certificate. Now sorted.

Good idea, Kim. I hadn’t thought of that. But as I mentioned to Jane, I’ve unearthed (not literally) my father’s death cerificate and now have the date.

You’ve got me thinking now…

albeit our renewal 10 year WARP isn’t until heaven knows when… never could remember any dates of birth.. so I’ll look out the necessary documents just in case we get asked … aaargh.

The chances are by the time your renewal comes up they’ll have moved it to the ANEF system with every other renewal. The date of expiry of your Art50 is on the front  .

Yours will be a 10 year renewal so very unlikely to be anything other than utility bill, card and passport.

I was jolly pleased with myself when I submitted my appication for a 10-year WARP card to dept. 24 a couple of days ago. The next day I got a message saying they couldn’t open my EDF justification and requested another copy. They also wanted a signed copy of the “contract d’engagement” laying out the responsibilities and rights of residents of the Republic. I don’t remember seeing this in the online application, but I sent them what they asked for and fingers crossed they’re satisfied.

They want our marriage certificate for the visit to the Prefecture. Just can’t understand this. But , as I have previously said, our prefecture seems to be treating Brexit renewals in exactly the same way ss all other renewals and first time applications.

A detail worth remembering for anyone trying to upgrade their 5-year WARP card to a 10-year card in Dept. 24 is that they don’t accept the standard EDF “justificatif de domicile”, but insist on a “facture” less than three months old. The only facture I could find on the EDF app was for February, so too old. I sent them a more recent water facture from SAUR and they seem happy with that – at least telling me my application had finally been “pris en charge” and was being considered. May have a pint tonight to celebrate.

Yes that’s correct, people in 24 have been having a hell of a time trying to find utility bills that are only 3 months old. They appear so far to be the only ones that want a 3 month one.

Dept 24 application completed online and all accepted for both me and my husband. Threedays later I had an email inviting me to the prefecture for finger printing, but he didn’t receive any notification. Yet on looking up his dossier he has been invited. In fact we both have the same appointment.

Please don’t make me envious!

I have sent multiple emails to our Prefecture in Avignon and I think they must be feeding them into their poêle a bois. No one even answers now and the website has all roads leading to “send email”. I really think they must be short of fuel.

Our WA CdS 5 yrs expires January 10. I’m painting a placard and planning to gather friends for a Christmas manifestation in Avignon!

Well done that’s really good news. Surprising both at the same time but all good.

When you are invited to make an rdv to collect your Art50, you can’t make an appointment until the day it expires or as soon as possible after that date.

This is the dedicated card collection rdv link
