Article 50 TUE/Article 18(1) Brexit CdS - 5 Year Renewal

Thank you for your reply. Yes, my dossier contains these, with copies compliantly stamped by our Mairie. I checked ANEF regularly but not yet renewing WA cards for us.

As George says, (in so many words) it may not matter until it does. The hospital recently sent me home for my passport because my CdS did not reflect my married name as on all the other medical documents. Wasn’t far for us to go but might have been much worse if it had been an emergency.

I shall report back after my visit on Tuesday!

ANTS is different to your CdS. Have you got your French licence yet, if not then your CdS will need both names on it.

Just ask them to correct the details when renewing, there won’t be a problem.

Yes please report back as I don’t have much on your prefecture. Good luck.

I’m more worried about walking from the carpark to the Préfécture on a day with predicted 60km p.h. wind! :parachute:

Hold on to your hat and your dossier .. lol

Thank you, George. This is the way I will go, wearing my biggest smile and a large brooch :folding_hand_fan:

I’ve noticed that hospitals and other medical places often have signs “passports needed” (more or less :wink: ) so we always have ours ready for appointments.

re emergency situations.. experience has shown that the person will be admitted to A&E and given emergency care even if the PP is not in one’s handbag… phew… (happened to me but at least I had my carte vitale !!)

similarly, an elderly foreign visitor was treated gently and expertly one night at A&E even though her bag with all info was missing, mind you we did agree that the bill would be paid.. and they noted our French address and info… thankfully the bag was found later and all was well :+1:

.

That’s exactly my experience a couple of years ago.

Anecdotally, waiting at emergency admissions, almost nobody had anything on them - since emergencies are (almost by definition) totally unplanned (!)…but sooner or later they’ll want ID (ID card, passport, or Carte de Séjour in my case), and either evidence of private insurance (in my case) or a Carte Vitale/mutuelle. They were more than happy with sight of the CdS copy on my phone.

I was also thinking about border control, something I haven’t passed since acquiring the 5yr CdS. If presenting a CdS in a totally different name (maiden) from the married name on my passport, would this not cause trouble? Nowhere on the British passport is birth name mentioned. I wouldn’t want trouble at the border!

Don’t care about stamps but thinking about if I need to come and go beyond the 90/180 limit in the next few years.

If I’m “crossing international borders” I’d make sure I had “everything” .

Incidentally, you’ve got me thinking and as I recall… a couple of years ago a French neighbour asked me to print out something or another… she was going on an international cruise and it was something to do with that.

During our chat I noticed that her boarding pass was in a different surname to that on her other bits and bobs.

She explained that she carried her passport and all supporting documents to show that although she might be using 2 names, she really was the same person.. :rofl: anyway, it must have worked as she sent me a postcard from some exotic place.

Next time I see her, I’ll try and remember to ask if she ever got herself/names “straightened out” :wink: :crossed_fingers:

Yep, that used to happen quite often. The current mob seem to be calmer :crossed_fingers:

Probably get-awayable-with for a cruise, but that would be a mega no-no for international air travel. Your boarding card / booking name must 100% match your passport for that.

@ChrisMann

I agree and am hoping she’s got herself sorted out properly by now. :crossed_fingers:

Makes a change for it NOT to be a Brit :roll_eyes:

You can have your birth name added to it when you next renew but you might need to speak to them, its called an observation.

I see this thread has morphed into something more than Article 50 renewals .. :grin:

Don’t they always, @kim ? You could say that it’s the result of lack of focus or butterfly minds but perhaps it’s safer to call it creativity :rofl:

I rather enjoy the ‘butterfly’ side tracks. It’s more like normal conversation isn’t it; we start one point and then some thought occurs - partly related - and someone else picks up the secondary thread and the conversation veers away totally from original chat !! Love it - feels like a conversation round a lunch or dinner group !! And sometimes the secondary part contains all sorts of interesting info - totally unrelated !!

Under normal circumstances I might agree but the thread feels hijacked. I posted to give advice about applying to renew an Article 50 and help anyone on this thread with a question about it.

Perhaps I’ll just stick to my dedicated groups for licences and Art50.

Please don’t give up here, Kim. Some of us need information but aren’t gifted with Facebook.

@kim

Add “stay on topic” to the title. There are a few stay on topic threads and generally everyone does.

I’ve added the ‘on topic’ tag. Not sure what effect that has really, but it’s been used before as a reminder not to stray from the assigned purpose of the thread.

Edit : I tried to add ‘please stay on topic’ to the thread title, but it seems to exceed the length of a topic. There’s only about 5 characters left, unless @billybutcher knows of a way to make it longer ?
