To be honest, it’s not too bad and pain is mostly controlled by paracetamol, though I suspect the anaesthetic is still in play.
Currently solo in a double room and drifting in and out of sleep.
Tomorrow is the key day, to find out how much damage was done in the process.
Good to hear its over and done with and there shouldn’t be too much pain. You’ll probably be and about (briefly) tomorrow with the kine. Drink loads of water too.
Have you got your sexy, black, thigh length compression socks yet?
Bon rétablissement.
I hope all goes well for a speedy recovery.
You don’t half lose any concept of dignity very quickly
So glad you are the far side of that @JohnH - not as glad as you are, though, I bet.
I do hope the ongoing recovery period goes really well too!
Dont you just🙄, and just wait until they remove the catheter
Fashionista!!
Tell me about it, when I had my prostate done they used keyhole surgery.
And guess where the keyhole was.
2 ops in one week and I was awake throughout both, even watched the 2nd one on the tv monitor handily placed.
Front door or back door? Actually, I really don’t want to know!
Won’t tell you then.
But I think most people know where the prostate is.
That’s fine with me, but there’s more than one possible route…
Indeed, there is a treatment route through the urethra. I’m probably quite thankful it wasn’t offered.
As an update, quite a bit of discomfort from the gas they inject into the body cavity to inflate you and give them space to work. It’s not in the digestive tract so the usual exit routes aren’t available. I also have a bit of a fever but hopefully that will clear and I’ll be out on Friday.
Good news in that I’m getting out today and, to be honest, the whole thing has been a lot less traumatic than I expected, though getting the drain removed this morning was mildly unpleasant.
I didn’t imagine that I’d ever be excited about having a poo but I was. It was a bit like baby’s first potty in terms of achievement and I had the impression that it was key to obtaining permission to depart.
Anyway, onwards and upwards.
Well done @JohnH ! I assume the fever has abated now?
Yes, just seemed to be a one night thing, thankfully
Yup, a pee and a poo show all’s well with the plumbing.
And home! It was quite amusing to watch the secrétaire talking herself into a longer and longer arrêt de travail. She started with 30 June and talked herself into 10 July at the end. I’m not sure I’ll need that much time but we’ll see how it goes.
Just to add that I left with an ordonnance as long as your arm, which my wife took to the pharmacy. There seems to have been a misunderstanding as it includes the first month of pads, described as protection (men), and the pharmacy sent her back with 2 dozen condoms. I don’t think I have any use for those
