Attestation to visit

I have no information about FR24News other than what one finds, easily enough, via Google…

You did!! But how does a person sitting in a little booth who I have never met know if I:
A: am visiting friends?
B: have my own place?

Point is the question wasn’t asked!

‘Alleged’? I much prefer Fr24 TV news programmes to those on the now much diminished R4 because the former include in-depth multi-perspective analyses of international affairs as opposed to the superficial invariably anglocentric accounts one gets from the latter. FR24 interview s not only have greater depth, but tend to feature international subject specialists and academics rather than party based politicians.

The Fr24 and France24 websites are not run by the same organisation, I fear. My comments were aimed at the former, whereas I fully agree with your assessment of the latter.

I would even go so far to say that Fr24news.com is a pale mirror of the original France24.com.

Sorry - my mistake!

France24 is an excellent TV station and is owned by the French State providing unbiased coverage of both domestic news and international new, and because of this is not at the whim of commercial owners…but neither is it a propaganda arm of the Elysee Palace …very different and far superior to FR24.

Hi everyone just made a account to see if anyone can help haha. I’m looking to visit Paris and stay at a friend’s place however I don’t want to have to put him through the hassle of doing attestation d’accueil as he’s very busy and may not have time to do it. I’m confused at the proof of funds parts, am I able to do this instead of the document. I know it says about 120 euro a day but does that have to be cash or can I take bank statements showing I have funds if needed. Hope someone can help its very confusing to say the least

Nobody’s taking any notice of it, so long as you have your passport, your vaccine certification thats all they want.

Thanks for the reply that’s put my nerves at rest haha

There was a lot of anxiety to begin with which is understandable as the rules applied to Brits were changing and we didn’t have experience with how the French would apply them.

For most people I suspect that they can see you have a return ticket (as I am sure the electronic systems connect in the background) so, as long as you don’t look destitute they won’t ask.

If however you look dodgy and arrive on an inbound ticket only, I’d expect to have to cough one up if I didn’t have other proof of means and where I were staying.

Thanks for the reply, ye ill have inbound and outbound so hopefully will be alright, seen a few people on here saying they went recently and never got asked so hopefully it’ll be fine

Dont know if I look dodgy or not but came over on a single ticket as I wasnt sure when I would return, again no one asked.

Obviously not dodgy then

Me, on the other hand, I excel in getting my collar felt by customs (but never any problems on the French side).

Not sure why this has popped up in my list just now …but it did make me wonder whether this is still relevant and now that travel is back to back normal if anybody has had a problem or been asked to produce an invitation?
Maybe after next week if Mrs Nasty gets elected border control will be more officious and start implementing the requirement.

we have family visitors coming in August (all being well) and have researched this requirement briefly.
As I understand it, provided they have pre-booked their return (arriving/departing Caen) assuming timescales within the 90/120 days requirement and can show sufficient funds for their stay (120€/day IIRC) if challenged then they should be good to go.
I don’t see what that has to do with MLP. It’s not a French requirement, it’s Schengen and thus EU beyond any remit she might assume.

A family member flew into Poitiers on Friday 15 April and the only document asked for was proof of vaccination status - no mention of attestation to visit by border control.

Christ you still need one? Do you know if the UK requires one too?

Actually France’s longest land border is with Brazil. Probably lots of popping over.

I was concerned about this attestation. However, I didn’t want my hosts to have to trek to the Mairie and cough up €30 which I would have felt duty bound to repay. I asked my friends to send a letter declaring their wish to lodge us etc. In the event, not needed, only vaccination status requested.

There was a lot of worry initially - I count myself in that - because no one knew how the French border guards would interpret the requirement.

Ultimately it seems it remains something one might be asked for, but probably won’t be as long as there is nothing to trigger the border guard’s spider sense that you might not be planning a regular tourist stay and return trip.
