Barbie Branding

Tim Martin, a friend of mine has just been here, he is web Master at WH Smith and highly talented... he said.

Such a great pic, and a good example of how subliminal advertising can work. One word or is it Two (?) words come immediately to mind...probably still one of the most recognisable Brands we have seen and still enjoy... Benson and Hedges? I have attached a few KEY WORDS to see where it leads.

The Cosmetics Poster Campaign Concepts take shape. The market is satiated, so it has been crucial to find a niche. The industry is very insular, and still run by the old guard... but one would expect that with a High end/spend product...not unlike Haute Couture.

The whole industry from manufacturers to marketeers is a massive cartel. Producers, PR giants, photographers, art directors, model agents... it's all very cosy. In principal, all very high end by definition, but there is a small sector for the youngsters in area of Cosmetics.

I'm not saying fashion, fads, games etc..that's global and well catered for, I'm mean the 'Make-up' sector. Effectively teens won't purchase 'Barbie Lippy' so will source from the same outlets as Mums and Grans... so' in the main' there is going to be a built in sophistication.... and I anticipate that association with the sort of thing that 'Old Biddies' use would best be avoided.

When the 'Old School' try to get down and hep with the kids you end up with a campaign like 'Charlie' ... remember that?

I would make the same mistakes but ideally would recruit the likes of Issie and others for advice and opinions. So, we wanted to pitch this element at the adolescent market, but to avoid the adult 'perception' of youth. Our thoughts were to retain 'sophistication' but add attitude. So, slick as Chanel but street, picking up and a tad of the rebel, text spk, tagging etc.

In an Ideal world we would break in S America ( where the source products are from ) but this is costly. So we have done the initial shoot in Cap D'Agde South of France, and recruited Angelo to do the Banksy Business...Yup we are gonna be Taggin' ..can't give away too much and in France this is risky... watch this space as they say!

Just developing the 'Portfolio' for the Isobel Branding website... are these logos, or could they become brands? what do you think. Also this morning we are doing a Poster Campaign for South America...Why, 'cos we're Caracas!

well, we are gearing up for the first Skype conference...

Thought you were getting some in June lol

I could do with some new Jewels!!!

@Michelle ( don’t I know you )hey accolade indeed…I did much for for the Cosmetics Giants in the 70s but have not for many years, but I would be interested into getting back into Women’s Underwear. Graphically speaking.

Maddie says that on your 'Nail Varnish' thing I might not appeal to her, as she only wears black, but it might appeal to youngsters who are after a bit of sophistication. and well done Dad

Issies's Cosmetics range 'moodboard' online

FaceBook Improve Traffic Hints

it would serve as a tombstone...beast of a thing!

This Mood Board which took me 35 minutes to create in Inkscape shows how a bottle might look in a Nail Varnish range..I quite like the 'Cosmetics with Attitude' idea and the 'Hard as Nails' notion...refers to durability and is a little rebellious. I will check with my daughter to see if that might appeal.

wow you gotta a bert plectrum - holy relic mate - build a shrine in the half hour.

no way..I'm only half way through 'Play in a Day'..... RIP Bert , still have your Plectrum. Half hour silence?

STOP!! Respectful break required... The great guru of the guitar from whose books man of us, including Mr Slowhand Clapton, learned has just deceased. A Bert Weedon moment must be observed!!

No, Michelle, logistically that wouldn't make sense if you are 'reverse Marketing' best to pick something 'soft' a Game, downloadable images...a review Notice board... something to keep 'outsourcing' to a minimum... so the house-keeping is safe!...trust me I'm a Designer

I have added a tint overlay over the lips using a Pipette to pick a colour, amazing how many different hues and tones there are available... each giving a different 'age' perception' I have added an email adreess as I am going to float the pic on Pinterest.
