Breakfast tea recommendations?

We are too far from shops, so we have the longlife version.

That’s whate we buy, 6-8L a week.

I used to buy this one too. Hate the long life stuff, has a sort-of caramel taste that’s horrible in tea. It’s just about ok for recipes though. Geant Casino used to do their own fresh milk which was a bit cheaper but that was 5 years ago.

We no longer drink milk and must say it’s wonderful not to have to bother. When we did drink milk though, I tended to find the so called “fresh” milk lasted for ages in the fridge, so never bothered with longlife, which has a “tang”. Which reminds me - we have builders (Brits) coming tomorrow, so I must buy some milk. AND biscuits.

Way back in the dim and distant… touring France, it seemed that the individual sachets/portions of millk (always UHT) in the roadside restos/cafés were just over the top for sweetness… I hated it and that’s what got me started on drinking my tea black…

However, overnighting in small hotels, which offered UHT (chilled) for one’s drinks, cereals etc at breakfast time… well, that gradually made us think again…

Once we were here fulltime, we opted for fresh milk whenever possible… but living too far from shops has made us turn full circle…

It’s lovely to see that nowadays, there is a great variety of milks available, to suit everyone’s needs and tastes.

If we’re going to have milk, we want it with the natural amount of fat in it. The French seem to only want semi fat, but it’s just possible to get full cream.

Intermache stocks PG Tips and Yorkshire, at least they had it last week. Lidl has Yellow Label. I am at 16500.

And? Nothing fancy - my wife wanted ordinary tea for breakfast, not anything fancy like, assam, gunpowder, darjeelinmg, etc. And, yes, it’s for my wife, because I prefer coffee.

Why has the title of my original post been edited to include “(Milk, anyone?)”

Who would have the privileges on the forum to do that and why? Not happy!

I think anyone with T3 level can edit. This has happened to one of my posts in the past and I wasn’t happy about it either, I changed my post title back to how I wrote it and it stayed that way. (I think it may well be the same person)…
Treads drift a bit sometimes and go off a
on a tangent but hijacking’s ones title is very rude.

apologies @Vitesse

I am the guilty party and only sort to enlarge the discussions… not enrage you in any way.
I have now deleted the annoying words.

Once again… my apologies.
(I had considered a new thread on Milk in Tea… but thought this thread would be ok… ooops)

@Wozza I don’t think I’ve amended/edited any of yours… it’s not something I do very often… but apologies if I am the guilty party.

It’s a Sunday, chill out :face_with_raised_eyebrow: the worlds hardly going end because someone added “milk, anyone” into a topic title

Well please don’t do it again. As the old adage says, just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Cheers.

You can get lait entier/demi écrémé/écrémé everywhere. If in bottles usually a red lid for whole milk, blue for semi skimmed and green for skimmed. It is written on it as well.

If you are in the UK , some tea brands that can be found in supermarkets include Twinings, Bigelow, Celestial Seasonings and Harney & Sons. as well as consider Red Rose and Tetley tea brands. there are also slightly less popular tea brands include Twinings, Dilmah and Madura

I was quite surprised to discover Auchan selling my favourite ‘Lady Grey’ tea.

Created by Twinings in the nineties for the north European market who apparently dislike Earl Grey smokiness.

In our Lidl there is no lait entier. Yes, you can get it anywhere else, but the vast majority of the milk on sale appears to be demi écrémé. Seems to be the French’s favourite.

That is so weird, the Lidl own brand, Envia, is supposed to be available in all branches in all its varieties. I bought this the other day
