Paco thanks BB from the bottom of his heart for the Fondation Brigitte Bardot’s help in rescuing him from being kept in a tiny crate 24/7 for a year, and caring for him afterwards.. We have been really impressed at the FBBs (several) follow up visits to ensure he’s being well looked after. We’ve also included FBB on our wills, in gratitude for all the fine work they do.

Very sad news

Shame about her affection for Le Pen

There can’t be many proper stars left now.

The popular French TV news was dominated yesterday by the death of Brigitte Bardot. But not a word on here. Why? Does nobody have an opinion? Has nobody ever watched “ And god created woman”

Whilst the focus in the media is quite understandably on her photogenic film, and modelling careers, and her far right political views, I was interested by the list below of animal welfare issues where her campaigning is regarded as having had a significant influence in France.

I had to look up ‘visons’ (mink) and ‘hippophagie’ - it’s the issue of the consumption of horsemeat.

Not really my generation to be honest. Yes I have heard of her but never seen any of her work apart from reading about her animal protection side of things. She was in the age group of my parents.

good heavens, you do make me feel old  and now my fingers won’t work and i can’t delete the second quote
 aaarggggg
 i feel even older :joy:

We did not have a lot to do with France and things French apart from school classes when growing up deep in the countryside and certainly my dad would never have had anything French on the TV showing so unless we read about her in the papers or magazines, she was just another French actress who appeared in some English films, one of the Doctor series I think she was in. I think she disappeared for quite a few years off screen too.

She was well before my time, too, but so were Elvis, Ravel, Marx, Rembrandt. She was a star when that went with real talent.

I expect many of her films will appear on tv over the next few days, so there will be an opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.

She was a family friend I’ve known all my life at home, I’m sad. Her dogs were always sweethearts.

To be fair he was before everybody’s time.

But I know what you mean. At a mere 68 I am too young to have really noticed Bardot as an actress.

I started paying attention with Jane Fonda in Barbarella and Diana Rigg in The Avengers.

Despite having a French grandma, France/French was lacking in my life too
albeit songs by Francois Hardy, Sylvia Vartan, Johnny Hallyday etc were part of my teenage years along with Elvis et al. :+1: and us teenage girls all “lusted after” the gorgeous male French teacher who spent one academic year at our otherwise all female school in Devon. Wow
 wonderful memories
