I work with an Estate agent with offices in the Lot and Lot et Garonne - we have been told all properties should have the DPE- energy efficiency report- label on all advertised property as of the 1st January. Some agencies might take properties off their books as they risk a fine of up to 1500 euros. However, all the agencies here still have the same properties (without DPE) in their windows and we are all presuming that their will be some more time allowed to get all the reports. I’m helping clients to get these at the moment because alot of people are selling second homes and aren’t here to deal with it all.
Has anyone heard about this energy survey that you need to have completed when selling a house in France. One agent says that the law has not yet been passed, 3 others have stated that they have removed our property from their lists unless we have proof of the survey and can recommend companies who can carry this out. Sounds like a money-making scheme to me!

If you mean a ‘Carte Professionnelle d’Agent Immobilier’ then you simply take your law degree, translated into French by a sworn translator, to your local Préfecture … and wait about six months while they check with the Ministère de la Justice that EU citizens have, in fact, the same rights as the French.
But then there are a lot of ‘cartes professionnelles’ and you may have had something else in mind …

From what I can remember, I applied to my local jeunesse de sport - I work as an accompagnateur en montagne or mountain leader. I had with me my equivalence showing that my qualifications were accepted in France; a doctor’s certificate of good health; two photos. There wasn’t a fee and they gave me a folded laminated card, which lasts five years. Simple as that. Kevin

I work with the teachers in my children’s school and as a basis they use stories - simple ones that my children have (mostly) grown out of - Meg and Mog, the Hungry Caterpiller, Spot etc. The CP teacher this year started by teaching numbers 1-10, hello, good bye etc. They also sing repetitive songs - we wish you a merry christmas, Old Mc Donald had a farm - and they involve my children too. Colours, fruit (have a fruit tasting session etc). Think VERY basic. I personally teach 5ieme and we will not touch another tense apart from simple present until about christmas time. Hope it helps

Hi Annette, first time I have seen this site www.viadeo.com and do not know of anyone else using it. I use Facebook for networking my businesses and also twitter, along with SFN of course on a daily basis and I find it really works. Can you tell us a bit more about this site?

THanks Sandra, FYI, for house exchanges, I am very pleased with HOMELINK.org. The site costs a pretty penny (125 euros/year!), but I was contacted for really nice exchanges by members as close to home as Paris and as far afield as Sydney AU, all in the first couple of weeks. They also do a small housesit section.
Jenifer, afraid I do not know of any agents in Normandy as I am based in Aquitaine, SW France. Regarding real estate sites for listing sales and rentals, I think the most popular one around at the moment is http://www.green-acres.com, I could be wrong of course (covers 17 languages).
