It is minimising frictional losses as you’ll see in the other pool thread (swimming pool filter) on here utilising a straight through flow path for filtration (99.9% of the time thats the setting) multiports on the other hand are forcing a tortured path through small pathways increasing friction and system pressure. Also utilising the best filtration media Dryden Aqua’s AFM ng as you actually want to take out the most dirt possible per hour of filtration and a variable speed pump to precisely set the flow for maximum efficiency. Also adding air assited backwash to minimise water wastage and improve the dirt removal from the filter.

Hi , as I am a big DIYer, built own houses and renovations etc, I looked at building a pool concrete breeze blocks , concrete base and various pipes and filtration , as we didn’t stay permanently in France

At the time , only out for three weeks at a time before Brexit ect and still working.

We thought the idea of a concept pool was the way to go , bought in the winter delivered , stored in barn , building permissions from Mayor etc, hole dug following spring summer , with a tornado, hailstones, thunder, lightning rain, very frightening. Mamma Mia!

Organised Jaegers and concrete base , rebar earthed, legs sticking out of concrete base around the perimeter

Built Magiline pool , more Jaegers for mono block pool concrete , steps formed pool edge copings laid.

Pipes and wiringv run to pool equipment then out to dosing shed terminated

Extension pipes to air source heat pump

Ground earth tested 2 ohms ,

Pipes run to central point for vacuum system for liner.

The filtration pump is acting up, shaft seizing over winterisation easily taken out and freed off.

I notice Magiline now have an eco pump uses lower wattage, not sure whether it is a VS pump.

1400 euros from the Magiline shop,

The franchisee has a 50%markup, and they franchisee will not give me a price without the markup.

Which is hefty.

As is everything else now, got me by the short and curlies

Stress tear in the liner caused by bad installation 9years ago 1year to go on liner guarantee, the franchisee is ignoring me as they have with the faulty Ph sensor, been good customers money spent , not complainers,
Poor treatment.

Sadly a common story, I used to dread getting calls for those, basic contruction is fine but its just those monoblock units. They used O A Smith pumps from memory. I made a seal plate to fit over the skimmer face so I could seal off the pump area to work on it. Add a variable speed pump may not be a good idea on a monoblock as unlike a conventional setup where water flows across the pool, lower performance all at one end good exasperate a bad circulation. I did do a couple of conversions but they are hard work fitting returns through the structure or surface mounted returns if the owner didnt mind the additional pipes poking down into the pool.

What I don’t understand is why liners are so prevalent in pool construction in France.

I realise cost is probably a big factor, and potentially ground conditions, but you really struggle to find anyone who has a tiled pool in France.

We are midway through a large pool project but it was hard to find a company who would build a tiled one.

We looked at several pools that the company had completed, all excellent work, but even the ones that were only 12 months old had noticeable staining at the water line. Even with all the precautions with suntan lotion and rigorous cleaning, from what I had read and seen, it seems that is unavoidable with a liner.

Some liners are worse than others, lower cost material on above ground or cheaper bad liners than some, higher Laquer content helps and then there are armoured liners with very high levels of protection from sun cream.
