Cats, Cats, Cats, let us see your photos of your CATS!

Purrfect for sleeping under cars on the street. Oil stains don’t show on him.

I can bring him to you. I already have experience catnapping, since that’s how I inadvertently ended up with Lyuba.

I would take him(?) like a shot. Sadly I live with someone who is not a cat person.

There is always hope. I wasn’t much of a cat person until a cat was all I had, despite having at least one in the family for 10 years.

Madame wasn’t a cat person either.

She changed. But a good friend (farmer’s son) still looks on their cat as a freeloader.

I always liked cats, but had no idea how much they like routine, and how calming it is to live with one.

The vet said my cat has a urinary infection, her blood test was fine and she prescribed Bioclamox, Meloxidyl and Scolpalgine over 5 days as well as giving her an antibiotic jab in the clinic. Big relief. When we got back she wanted food which is a good sign. Panic over!

This seems to be true about the particular cat I have, but is it universally true of all cats?

This grey interloper, for example, is the sort who likes to brush up against me. If he did that constantly, it would annoy me.

make sure she takes the full set of medication till it’s gone. How are you supposed to be administering it? can it be hidden in food or are you going to have the excitement of wrapping your cat in a towel to get a pill down its neck?

I hope your kitty gets well soon. I was hoping it was a urinary infection, they’re pretty common in cats.

I bought our cat a XL stainless steel litter tray (it occurs to me to mention it because you said your cat developed an aversion to his). Unscractchable, so nowhere for nasties to settle, and if you use liner bags, very easy to change the litter. (I know that’s not great for the environment :frowning: )

With a pill popper. Easy. Couldn’t find it today so popped the pill down with a finger. No fuss. She doesn’t fight like mad the way some cats do! She’s a good girl…

The frightening thing was that she was yowling out loud in obvious intense pain and there was nothing I could do to help, and on a Sunday. I thought she was going to burst! Rang the vet knowing that the clinic was closed but I waited and eventually my call was referred through to an emergency vet, who spoke good English which helped a lot. She’s feeling so much better now after just the antibiotic. She’ll be OK.

It is ALWAYS on a Sunday.

When we first moved here we came with two elderly Airedales. Within a matter of days of arriving here one of ours was going frantic, scratching himself, not settling. Fortunately I had already discovered the Total France forum and I posted asking (in a vain hope) if there was an English speaking vet in Lot et Garonne - our rescue Airedale Smudge came with many health issues, having been badly abused and I couldn’t face trying (in those early days) to explain his symptoms to a French vet.
I was given a name and contact details. It was (of course) a hot Sunday afternoon. She arrived with her two boys, flung them in our pool, sorted out Smudge (mange) and sorted out me. I was blaming myself for bringing him to France and making him suffer.

Her visit to the vet for a urinary infection was only her third trip to see a vet. The other two times were for sterilisation and a broken leg, as she is here back in 2015, recuperating. A healthy cat overall.

Any lady on this site who has suffered from cystitis has done this - I have many times and I have been in agony until the meds kicked in. I am so glad you went to the vet with her. Give her an extra cuddle from her kitty friends Bobby, Charlee and Tabatha.

How I got to the vet clinic and back in this weather I don’t know - dread driving without climo, especially in slow-moving traffic we experinced along the ring road! On leaving the clinic this afternoon the steering wheel was almost unholdable it was so hot, but my cat and I, another cat, on another emergency visit to see a different vet in town, made it unscathed there and back.

Think we must be as tough as each other, except that my cat had a dreadful nosebleed during the night and lost a lot of blood and his breathing rate was subsequently in the 60s and very shallow, not the slow 30s where it should be. So rang the clinic pleading and was told to come tout suite.

He’s ok despite a low red blood cell count - the vet also x-rayed his lungs and they were fine. Another red blood cell checkup next week.

My vet saw us in between her other client appointments while we waited, and both I and my cat are most grateful.

Poor cat, I hope he feels better soon.

I had that the other day. Temperature 47. Impossible to touch gear stick and steering wheel. We’ve got a silver windscreen shield - I just have to remember to use it.

Poor pusscat. I too wish you both the best outcome.

Me too.

I wonder if we’re getting softer, or maybe the silver ones don’t do much. When we travelled regularly to Spain (in an ancient Volvo 340: no power steering, let alone clim), we had a cardboard folding shade, and managed.
