Depending on how old he is, would stimulating him help?
Sounds like that’s only until 3 weeks and my little one is 8. Hopefully the moved tray will help.
That’s a very frightened pair of eyes!
He’s good at selfies ![]()

Can’t find the original photo, but who’d be a pet owner! Especially on a Sunday. One of my cats, the one in the bucket, let out yowling cries and started hissing at nothing and panting this afternoon and wanted nothing to do with me. After a visit to the litter tray, the yowling stopped but the amount of urine passed was minuscule but it seemed to calm her. I rang a local emergency vet who luckily spoke English but the phoneline reception was awful but we managed to establish that it was more likely a bad urinary infection and not something like a blockage, which would be very serious.
She said to ring again if anything obviously serious happens during the night. Good to know that emergency vets are around 24/7.
After pacing around from one litter tray to another, I have three, she went out into the garden and tried to pee on dead leaves. She thinks the litter trays are the cause of the pain.
Thankfully she is now resting quietly in the bedroom though I think she is in a lot of discomfort – she growls now and again. I’m off to the vet sharp tomorrow morning, rdv or not!
Hope you get it resolved quickly
Claude AI has been very useful in understanding my cat’s symptoms. I’m off to the vet first thing this morning with a letter about her symptoms and background written by Claude AI in language that a vet will readily understand, according to Claude! My cat seems to have survived the night and appears relaxed but still growls in pain from time to time. It’ll be a big relief once the vet takes over.
I took advantage of the balmy evening to cook myself a ‘BBQ for one’ under the tree at the back of my house.
I was eating when a cat appeared and made its way in my direction, stopping a few metres away to sniff the air.
I decided to offer her a piece of chicken which I left halfway between us, as she looked a little nervous at my approach and I thought she might run away if I got too close too quickly. She took her time to have another good sniff before taking the chicken a little way off to eat it. She came back for seconds, which she received. This time she walked right up to my feet.
After I’d finished up, put everything away and come in, I looked out and spotted her relaxing under the tree.
I think I have been adopted.
Edit: the garden is very much a work in progress![]()

I have a similar thing going on. After living in Cholet for 3 years, I’m about a week or two away from moving to Chars in the IdF. This grey cat has a home, somewhere, but I don’t think he is looked after very well. Lately he shows up in our yard, and my cat absolutely detests him for some reason. I feel sorry for him, and I have a few bags of food that my cat won’t eat, so I have been feeding him breakfast. But sometimes he just won’t leave and runs into the house to steal my cat’s food. Poor guy. Well, he’s been here longer than us, dodging cars and living rough so I guess he’ll be ok.
He’s beautiful. He’s my sort of cat. Sleek, short fur, beautiful colour.
Certainly for a street-fighting cat, his coat’s in good condition.
He probably takes it off, like NE men do their shirts, before a fight.
His colour, I’d guess.
When we adopted out (black) cat, the RSPCA let him out of his cage to walk towards me and all we heard was a chorus of hissing and yowling as he passed the other cages. (Then I picked him up and the sound of his purring almost drowned it out.)
The vet told us that cats find black cats difficult to gauge, facially, and so dislike them.
