We got a bulk discount when we did the 9 feral cats on the farm from our vet for the chipping, steralising and vaccinations.

I don’t suppose you can give me an idea of cost?

I lost 4 that way in 6 months last year. On a narrow unlit country road whose speed limit should be 50, people like that just putting their foot down 80, 100kph or more and no intention of looking out for any animal big or small.

What would even up the playing field would be, if here too we had moose wandering out onto the road. A big problem in places like Sweden where unfortunately it’s likely to be 45 points to moose 0 to car, if a moose steps onto the road in front of you.

I’d rather no animals died on these ribbons of death

I will have to check as it was two years ago and we were getting a mixture of males and females done plus chipping and vaccinations, but it sticks in my mind it was €55 for a male and €95 for a female.

Oh how horrible, I’m so sorry to hear that. Grim.I think there should be steep nasty speed bumps on these roads. Loathsome people.

We used to have a sign at one end of the road saying Riverains only - appropriate for the road - but it disappeared mysteriously a number of years back. I might ask the mairie one day if I make a trip there for something else, whether that sign should still be there, or not.

Yes, the 3rd of the 4 was my beautiful smart male cat at New Year, still sad.

We lost our cat in June, we think to natural causes. Looks like we have found a new one

This little thing popped up in neighbours garden this evening

Oh he looks really sad!

Something has been pooing in our back garden and I set up a camera to see what’s going on. Frankly, it’s so cute that I’m happy to put up with the poo. Here it is investigating the camera. A very short and safe video clip.

Were it my garden, I’d be leaving out food and water today!

In my experience, semi-wild kittens at this age are very adept at catching insects. They learn quickly how to survive once mum’s not around, provided they are healthy. This one has its nine lives ahead which is a great help.

SO cute! He / she has been a star all evening since we got it. Some scared, hiding under the sideboard but lots of playing too.

Needs to be handled asap. He/she needs to become completely ‘tame’.

Your cat carrier looks brand new - exactly the same as mine, except mine is at the point of falling apart!

Agreed, they will be feeling really lonely now they don’t have mum and siblings, so need a substitute mom now.

You need to get rid of that weed :face_with_hand_over_mouth: It’ll start shaking in the wind and set off the camera.

Yes we are handling him as much as we can  . The carrier is quite new, bought in November when we had to take Oscar to the vet.

Bless him he totally will be!

I showed him the litter tray a few times last night but this morning there is a little wee near the fireplace (Oscar had been there a couple of times annoyingly). I’m going to move the litter tray there to see if that helps.
