About twenty years ago I made an artwork that consisted of every published sentence of John Ruskin’s that contained the word ‘blue’ (won’t bother with an explanation, but will send a link if anyone’s really curious). I copied them in the Ruskin Library at Lancaster University from their digital version of his ‘Complete Works’ (16 very large volumes in the definitive 1903 edition) that would only run on Windows 3.1 computers that they had retained solely for Ruskin research.
