I had my usual flu & CV19 jabs administered this afternoon (23/10/2025).This only difference compared to previous years is that I didn’t have to pay anything having now passed the 65 year mark.
We had ours this week too. Slightly sore arms and, for me, slight flu symptoms for the day.
According to the pharmacist, this year’s flu variant is nasty.
This year I’m going for the works, Flu and Covid as usual and Zona and Pneumococcal, which I probably should have had years ago. My wife’s getting Zona as well as she’s living with a “vulnerable” person.
Who ever thought I’d be described a vulnerable ![]()
After witnessing the results of someone local getting Zona, we were at the pharmacy as soon as the new vaccine was available earlier this year! What are the criteria for getting the pneumococcal one?
I’m not sure. I’m hoping over 65 with dodgy lungs is enough, I need to discuss it with my MT on Monday. Given those dodgy lungs and the surgery this year a dose of Pneumonia wouldn’t be good.
Hmmm… I fit that profile too. Must have a word with my MT
Frankly, any of us can talk with our Doc and ask which jabs, if any, we should be getting.
I’ve just had a message from Mon Espace and when I get in there (after fighting with the internet, passwords et al) it tells that that I “need to get my jabs done” which makes me thing there’s something else on offer..
but the only ones it mentions for me are Covid/Grippe (!) and are clearly/correctly shown on a different page as being done (!)… aaargh I need food…. ( just as well there’s a hearty soup simmering on the stove)
EDIT: made a note to chat with the Pharmacist as I shall see him yonks before I see the Doc…
Either being a baby, or over 65. Choose your category!
Here is the calendar for vaccines. And these days no need to bother doctor as pharmacist can just do it for you.
Just being over 65 should be enough. I got a letter in the mail authorizing it which the phamacy stamped up. Maybe it’'s in your personal space on the website also?
I just got my flu and COVID jabs today. I pretty much just did it for the experience. I’ve never had COVID and half the time when I used to get flu jabs they didn’t work. Anyway, it was a pleasant experience, as jabs go. The pharmacy charged me 4.50, I assume for the service, not the drugs, since I don’t have a mutuelle.
Very interesting - thank you! May go for that one then. What’s DTP? I know what coqueluche is. but don’t know what VRS is either.
Diphtheria, tetanus, polio.
Thank you! I may have had a tetanus one in the last 10 years but, to be honest, I’ve no idea…
Yes, I normally ignore poor Amelie but I did log in last week and it seems I should have got Zona in 2018 and she’s pretty cross I haven’t had my Flu/Covid yet. Well, I filled in details, including batch number, from last week’s Zona (which I think is a better vacine than was available in '18) and I’m booked in for Flu/Covid on the 4th. That should keep her happy. No mention of me Pneumococcals though ![]()
They won’t split them. If your tetanus is due they give you a combined vacc with all 3 of those.
Had that conversation with my doc 6 years ago - I had already had the other 2 long ago amd still valid as we had got lifetime valid versions in childhood programs. But doc said tetanus only comes combined with those other 2. Luckily I went ahead but reluctantly, as 2 weeks ago a rusty screwhead went into my foot outside.…Ouch. ![]()
That’s worth knowing Karen - thank you!
My wife and I had our flu and covid vaccinations last week at the local pharmacy. The lady doing them said fewer French were having the covid vax, (she didn’t know why) but most foreigners were having both. We know two Brits who are having neither. Foolish, IMO.
It is each to their own and opinions will differ. I fully respect the medical professionals who know a great deal more than I do and I follow their advice when needed. I did have my flu jab last week but turned down the covid vaccine as I have previously. All I know is that ever since the third one I have bouts of breathlessness ( nothing severe but noticeable nonetheless), sneezing attacks for absolutely no reason and tinnitus. Of course it could be pure coincidence but personally I doubt it. I also now seem to have a thyroid problem which I will.be discussing further with an endocrinologist tomorrow
It is probable that the vaccine may have saved many lives but for myself, and others that I know, I do not believe that it did us any favours.
Lots of women get pregnant soon after having a Covid jab!
Absolutely true. Many women, after having the jab ,throw off all their clothing and copulate with the first man they encounter resulting in pregnancy. However neither the mother, nor the infant contract Covid. So mission accomplished ![]()
Have you done any, even a modicum, of research on this before posting? This is how misinformation propagates on social media. We should all be careful about what we post.
So let me try to lead by example.
Regarding your thyroid. I’m sure you’ll have a good session with your endocrinologist tomorrow. My experience over the last thirty years in that area is that if they are dodgy, better out than in. My wife had her’s zapped by radio therapy in Jo’burg in '95 and mine was whipped out eight or nine years ago here in France. No ill effect, one tablet a day and all’s fine.
So please don’t worry
and do take the seasonal jabs that are recommended for you.
