EV - buy or wait?

Hope not, but guess it depends on one’s reading speed…

I guess I will never know because unlike most books, this one I just cant pick up. :joy:

No, but you give sound advice to others on the basis of your practical experience, which is helpful and well-intentioned.

I’m just doing the same - but with words rather than bricks.

Ok but be aware that my construction expertise and the management of it goes much further than practical experience.
Had to smile earlier when watching an episode of Mastermind. Rarely able to answer questions on contestants specialist round but not bad on general knowledge.
A question was asked to name the indent in a brick with a clue that it was the same as an amphibious creature.
They thought for a moment and then confidently answered ‘toad’
Close but even masterminds don’t know it all.
Answers on a postcard to @JohnBoy at Brick House, Construction Street, Timberland.

Answer: frog

I cheated and asked ChatGPT

Mastermind giving clues out - standards have dropped!

Anyway, I knew it was “frog” but Gareth and his little helper beat me to it.

Here’s one you might like Mark.
I was a governor at an FE College for 15 years 5 of which was as Chair.
I had a close working relationship with the local MP who frequently visited the college.
John Mann is now the Defence Secretary in the heart of government.

There’s a common misperception that conflates general knowledge and intelligence. I think my level of general knowledge is above average on an array of subjects (apart from my professional specialisms) but much of that is probably attributable to intensive reading between the ages of eight and eighteen.

That sort of general knowledge is comparatively passive and wholly different to the combination of knowledge and deep understanding gained through primary research that is necessary to write an international conference paper or a book that offers a new perspective on a subject.

I’m sorry, but I don’t really see the relevance of that to what we were discussing, you obviously did ‘very well’ in your career, but who you knew is not the subject of this debate. And incidentally and very unfortunately in my opinion, FE has for several decades been the severely underfunded ‘poor relation’ of post 16 education.

All very good, except the Defence Secretary is John Healey.

Indeed he is and it is he who I was referring to. John Mann was the MP in tge constituency where I lived.
Too many John’s.

Thanks for making that abundantly clear.

I will wait. New solid state batteries coming out next year in MG’s, Panasonic and their new solid state batteries and Tesla with their Aluminium ion cells all look interesting.

It is difficult to know when to jump because battery technology seems to be making rapid advances.

Elon Musk is IMHO the most evil man on this planet and I would prefer to avoid anything connected with him.

Ahh when it comes to evil men, my vote goes to Bill Gates. Elon pales compared to Bill. Also Elon is just the face and drive, the brainy people behind the scenes are the real guys driving the tech.
