EV - buy or wait?

OK, he was pretty ruthless as a businessman but is now trying to use his $$$ to do some good - so that does beg the question why you think he is worse than Musk (my own view, which you can probably guess is that there is no comparison but the other way around).

We’re going to test drive an R5 on Friday. May lease one for local use. Meanwhile this EV has caught my eye…

A guy sailed out of the arrivals hall in Nice airport last week when I was waiting for my wife. He looked a total prat, but it would be a laugh. Better than being wheeled around in a wheelchair when the dreaded day comes :slightly_smiling_face:

Well if it wasn’t for his company being contacted by the special forces guy living next door to my family this week and then sending them TWO free starlink units for them all to use to get messages out to family, they would still be high and dry. Teslas in opinion are the most ugliest vehicles anyone could wish to buy. Also note the fact that EV’s are the most useless vehicles to have when there is devastation all around with no power and those that got flooded were write-offs, only the good old ICE vehicles have kept going.

Clarkson did that round Stansted on the GT in one programme, knocked everything over.

Sorry Shiba, thats BS, as we saw from the videos with vehicles crossing the fords ICE die quicker.

Well tell that to the people who lost their EV’s due to the flood water. I am not an EV fan and never will be until they become affordable to the ordinary person in the street and not just for the well off.

They said exactly the same about the first cars when sitting on their horse and cart, give it time, its still new.

Buy the time the EV’s were ruined by the flooding the ICE would have gone sooner. ICE engines have valves and some are always open on some cylinders so water will have got in and pretty much buggered the engine.

Pretty much any car that gets flooded will be a write-off as there’s so much hidden damage, especially to electrical systems which ICE cars also have in abundance.

I think they are now Shiba. I think the C3 looks particularly good. Range is OK, few people do more than 300km in a normal day. Plus charging a night for buttons. They’ll save people money. I think the FIAT 500 is cute too.

And talking of cars and water…

And next year they’ll start working on the brakes.

It’s just a shame it doesn’t come with this feature…

Trident subs don’t even come with that feature anymore. I’d prefer if that sort of information wasn’t made public

It’s a bit hard to hide if one strikes off on the wrong direction and the other decides it’s not playing at all.

Though the first ever test remains the best.

Wow, looks like Peenemünde 1944 :slightly_frowning_face:

Oh, great. The EU, home of some of the greatest economic brains in the world, has just ratifieď to add extra customs duties to the cost of any Chinese vehicle imported.

Duty of up to 35% surcharge according to which Chinese make of vehicle, charged from the end of October on any Chinese made vehicle coming in. And presumably Japanese or Korean… unsure but sounds like.

Apparently it’s all about Chinese EV’s being too cheap. Nothing about the offerings and technology of the Chinese vehicles being vastly superior while certain EÙ manufacturers close to home have soaked up subsidies and offered no innovation.

And as any half trained economist knows this just means the consumer once again getting it in the neck and being the one who pays more.
