Nope! No roller blind for a roof

Jesus, she’s annoying :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

A good article on it but the one thing I would say is they need to get their skates on. There seems to have been a lot faffing about, they just need to get it to market. The trick will be getting the range vs price balance right.

The van version looks nice.

Not only this but the overall ordering and supply chain.

Certainly in the sticks, France has not a clue about modern living! I was set on the new e-208GTi Peugeot. I did not care about the price. It took my local Stallantis dealer 3 weeks just for the various quotes, and no interest in hastening a trade in price for my Mercedes. In the meantime, I went to a younger competitive dealer, whose speciality is importing repossessions from Denmark, offloading Jaecoos and buying new French cars where/when available on special deals from the manufacturers. He had an Alpine on the books and in two hours struck a deal on price and trade in. Then the rub - he apologised for the two weeks delivery despite the car sitting in the Alpine car park in Brest. It is now three weeks! The car was delivered to him this morning! He can get a car transported from Denmark in 24 hours. He can get a Jaecoo delivered in two days, but a French car…?!

I love France, but the workers need to buck up their ideas. They just do not see that China is pushing at their walls, especially with EVs. Their attitude will allow China to break in with subsidised prices and customer service, take hold and then take over.

And do not underestimate Chinese quality. I was looking at the Jaecoo ‘Temu Range Rover’ this morning, parked next to my Alpine at a fraction of the price. Looking inside, it was very smart - not as opulent as a Range Rover, in fact quite minimalist, but very nice workmanship. Whether it will last is of course another question. But it all made me wonder about the future…

The Renault E-Space Concept is a fully electric minivan that reboots the spirit of the iconic, boxy 1984 Renault Espace. Debuting at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, this concept signals Renault’s intent to revive the traditional multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) for the electric era, moving away from the SUV body style that currently bears the Espace name. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Key Design and Features

  • Retro-Futuristic Styling: The concept blends the classic “one-box” silhouette and extended windshield pillars of the 1980s original with modern touches like massive wheels, flush door handles, and integrated running boards. [4, 5, 6]
  • Signature Lighting: It features a wide, distinct “U”-shaped light strip at the front and rear, an illuminated floating Renault diamond pattern, and square running lights that mirror the new Renault 5. [1]
  • Optimised Proportions: Measuring 4,700 mm in length, it features short overhangs to maximize the wheelbase and unlock a massive, highly adaptable cabin space. [1, 7]

Underlying Technology

While final specifications remain scarce, the electric minivan is expected to utilize Renault’s upcoming RGEV Medium 2.0 platform. This electric-first architecture enables a low-mounted battery pack, maximizing interior space. The platform is engineered to support a rear-wheel-drive motor configuration—a first for the historically front-wheel-drive Espace lineage. Speculation suggests that production models based on this architecture could support range targets up to 500 miles, with the option to accommodate petrol-aided Range-Extender (REx) variants for specific market needs. [8, 9]

Market Position and Strategy

The E-Space concept aims to challenge the revival of the family people-mover market. Its footprint puts it in direct competition with the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the Kia PV5. Renault has a track record of rapidly transitioning its retro-styled concepts (like the 5 and the Twingo) into production cars, hinting that a showroom version could arrive as early as 2028. [1, 2, 3, 9, 10]

Would you like to know more about its expected production timeline, how it compares directly to the VW ID. Buzz, or details on the other retro electric vehicles Renault is introducing?

To me the new design of the 2Cv/Dyane looks like a Fiat 500 derivative.

I don’t know if a few vertical stripes down the bonnet will really make a difference.

I could be interested in the van though. Even though the cab driving it is still a Fiat 500

Unfortunately not, Adam1. France is effectively legislating to keep the better products of China out. There are many, many further tricks France can do to keep sustaining this.

I agree with Roger Lapin we should support the French car industry but the manufacturers have taken subsidies and government support for decades and not innovated and now it’s gone too far

The van does look pretty cool.

The VW Buzz was very short lived .. Perhaps a bit ahead of its tome

Are you talking about the VW van that you can buy right now? How is it short lived?

The facilities company Mitie purchased a fleet of VW’s, My friend loves his compared to his old diesel.

I think it has been discontinued ..I would be happy to be proven wrong . There are still some stocks in showrooms .

Paused for America this year. They don’t deserve nice vehicles

Maybe they’ll start a new chapter instead of just closing the book?

It’s just paused for America, not the EU and 3rd nation isles. Mind you it’s not selling in big numbers probably down to it’s pricetag. Hyundai/Kia are already taking their market for a lot less money

Quite! I would adore the white and orange one but the price is insane, 67,000€ I think?

And poor range.

Overpriced and underpowered, more like
