EV - buy or wait?

200 Bhp is not underpowered . The original VW minibus was decided underpowered and was a niche success with as loyal.a following even today as the Citroen 2CV ,with hundreds of the creatures congregating in early festivals and even fan magazines for the 1970s versions

Overpriced ..Well maybe , but all EVs in that level of luxury are.

Macron’s made a speech at a motor event that France and Germany are reaching an agreement ‘to protect our car industry’.

Looks like China vehicles are going to be quota’d at 350,000 p.a. That’s not a lot, and you can be sure cheaper ones won’t last as they’ll be taking up space in this very low quota, from more expensive vehicles. Sounds like there’ll be demands not just to put plants in Europe, but also for European components into their supply chain.

If the French manufacturers, in particular, had not been disloyal to their customers by keeping their hands out for protection and disguised subsidies (eg the social leasing EV program) for decades, without innovating to beat the obvious Chinese threat and without actually providing vehicles for ordinary families at approachable prices, then I would actually think this was fair enough.

Link here but it’s loaded with whack-a-mole ads so I’ve summarised the good bits above.

Stellantis were having to scale back production due to battery shortages it was reported, I do wonder if Gov’s are capable of actually joining the dots on a change process. West are years behind and don’t seem to be doing that much to improve the situation other than slowing the transition by imposing tariffs.

Renault and EDF unveil bidirectional charging offering - electrive.com https://share.google/qorJTfnnvqGSRCvN3

I wonder how much they will charge for the installation

I read that yesterday, the article said only the hybrids are impacted.

So a BYD number 26 with egg fried rice may be more difficult to get. but the Jaecoo steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce (I joke you not) should still be on the menu.

Jaecoo brochure.

Let’s see

Still looks like a Fiat 500.

Possibly until you see them side by side, the Citroen is shorter and made on a different platform than the fiat.
I was taken by the Fiat multiple and it’s quirky look and practicality

I agree, it doesn’t look like a 2CV, no matter how many badges and logos they stick on it.

European cars, built by Europeans, for Europeans

Absolutely agree. I sincerely hope that I never have to experience a chinese piece of crap.

Man after my own heart :slightly_smiling_face: They and their Regime’s objective wasn’t fair competition, it was to kill the European car industry.

Corona, I believe it is the same Stellantis platform as the Fiat 500 electric . They have no problem in making the bodywork bigger or smaller for different brands of car , but using the same chassis and same running gear

You would think the video of the car flipping over is AI

And 0-60 in 0.8 seconds..

Although I not entirely sure what the point of it being able to flip over is. Unless it was just to show the power of the fans.

You would expect so, too soon to find out maybe, I tried looking into it on line and it said they are different and from different factories, having worked in engineering factories and having to set up duplicate assembly lines I know it’s not difficult. The 2CV is quite a bit shorter than the Fiat 500, not that it counts for much when you fit a different shell on the top. Like my bus, it’s basically a Toyota Camry with a different MPV top.

Watching the Espace EV, suicide doors, impossibly large for any carpark except builders merchants in the UK with van bays.
Steer by wire anyone?

Nice video…
