Sue, that is such a wise perspective. Not that we should bury our heads in the sand, but absolutely use the energy we have to change the things we can. ![]()
Second on my list ![]()
Can’t see anyone muting a tame Aussi, bit like someone not liking Koala bears
 ![]()
Maybe I’m on the list too!
We’re all on the list. Damn. Cant find a tin foil hat emoji.
If you can find one pls send it, I may need one ![]()
Yeah 4 of you on my list now ![]()
More frightening bullshit…
Who said that?
You said something about everyone being muted by someone so I , a bit tongue in cheek, wondered if anyone had muted me!
They won’t be able to tell you because they’ve muted you and so won’t see your question. ![]()
Sorry, a poor attempt at humour suggesting you were a disembodied voice due to being muted
Just read this thread and have to laugh at the idea of muting which is surely a tool some use as they have insufficient self control to not ignore what a poster has written. That poster may well irk rhe reader in what they say/believe but at some point they will say something that may well help/appeal to the ignorer.
Surely muting someone is the physical equivalent of stuffing a finger in your ears and shouting la la la la.
I have always said what I feel hopefully with a degree of tact and diplomacy but occasionally with neither😁 and sometimes when re-reading I think did I actually say that but of course it was my feeling/view at that time.
For anyone who cannot read this because I am on their ‘list’, just to say that you are not on mine.
I think I said that’s exactly why I mute from time to time and I’ll be the first to admit it.
And why should I have to make the effort to ignore what sometimes is an endless stream of new threads that do not interest me, when I can easily bat them out the way?
Like standing next to some loud bore at a party. Do I have to stand there listening? No of course not, I can walk away. Muting on a forum is no more than that.
The post I deleted a little up the thread contained a line from Billy Joel “you can speak your mind but not on my time”.
Muting is a last resort, when the stuff that’s possibly going to be helpful is enormously outweighed by the stuff that isn’t. Also some - though not any of the current forum users - make words a weapon, to goad people into what they use as traps and then set about belittling and humiliating them. I’ve no time for people who want to be bastards, and muting is a harmless way to draw their teeth.
“A toothless bastard is no risk to anyone” I’ll make that my thought for the day ![]()
The same could be said for many topics but the fact is, there is space made on the forum for debate on a variety of topics and this is but one. Much more in the the public interest than the cyender head gasket on a 1962 Ford Anglia.
Knowing my luck there will be such a topic and I’m now in somebody’s black book
