And being overtaken by weeds.
Here in the 82 the lawn (herbs mauvais) refuse to cease profuse growth, and the old VW air conditioning has been sans emploi since early June, and then only once. I sit here wearing a sweat suit, drinking my morning coffee.
Back into sweaters and my warm slippers.
âMummy, mummy, whatâs that yellow thing in the sky?â
âIâm not sure sweetheart, but I remember your granddaddy talking about something called âthe sunâ. Maybe itâs that?â
Well, we had a week of summer this year. It arrived with our Dutch guests on Saturday July 17th July and left us on Saturday 24th. Some days this week the mornings have been more like the start of a day in October than in July. Nothing in the forecast to say summer is coming back and round here they believe summer doesnât stay much after mid August anyway. Hopefully there will be the odd hot day again in September so I can get to the Atlantic coast after the tourists have left.
Our guests seem content enough - but maybe this is still good weather for them - but I wouldnât like to be paying high season rates for this year!
Weâve had all 4 seasons lately⌠but at least no snowâŚ
15th August is the official âend of summerâ as far as folk around here are concerned⌠but as the weather is crazy at the moment⌠perhaps 15th August will mark the start of our summer this year⌠fingers crossed.
Yes, we are hoping that we will have an âIndianâ summer this year, to make up for the abysmal start.
We were actually just saying how much we are enjoying having a âmildâ summer after the last 4 fairly horrific ones! it is actually cool enough to keep working on the house, you arenât eating at 10pm when it is still 32c etcetc! But still warm enough to go to the pool etc (just got back!
