I applied this afternoon and received confirmation of a 50E cheque within 10 minutes, the confirmation email said I would receive a physical cheque in the post within 90 days.
excellent result… I suspect you’ll get the cheque sooner than that, though…
was it for Wood or Oil ???
Wood.
Im still not very clear on how this one works. So you then have to use your cheque to pay for future wood or you can put it in your bank to cover what you’ve already spent?
It’s not clear from the email whether I can bank the cheque or I have to hand it over to our wood supplier.
@toryroo @tim17
These cheques are given to one’s Energy Supplier to offset one’s payments … NOT banked…
I have yet to visit our Oil supplier (delivery received Wednesday afternoon) but shall see them early next week to pay the Bill.
I shall speak with them to see if the “cheque” can be set against the outstanding amount (as far as I know, it can…)
However, if the Oil Supplier cannot receive the “cheque” I will arrange to have it offset against my ~Electricity
I’ll report back on how I get on…
Visited our Oil Supplier today… (delivery was last week but we were stuck at home due to bad weather).
Handed over my Energie- Oil-Cheque 100€ and it was clear the lady was used to seeing this sort of thing.
She amended the Bill Total by 100€ and we simply paid the balance… phew.
I also asked about the availability and price of granules, since they are a local-main-distributor.
Seems their supply is coming-in very slowly and still at a high price.
I asked when will you drop your price to the customer… and the reply was… when our supplier drops the price to us. (seems reasonable).
We both agreed that the French Govt is doing its best, helping low-income households with their heating Bills… thanks and thanks again…
Our energie cheque bois arrived today, we can use it against our EDF bill rather than our wood supplier if we want.
I’ve not had anything by post or in my account - I would qualify for electricity.
I did attach a RIB as requested with my (paper) tax declaration last year. But I don’t have an online account yet as my attempts in 2021 with the help of my local Treasury, that failed, seem to have permanently knackered my ability to get an online account set up with my main France email address the Impôts and everyone else has for me.
Would anyone be able to provide a link so I could do whatever is necessary to request the aide électricité I seem to have missed out on?
France gets all my money including any taxes forever now I’m here. We can all expect to pay more tax in future so I’m quite keen to apply for any help given as I know I’m going to end up paying for it anyway!
If you’re eligible for the cheque energie, it is sent automatically and is based on your latest tax declaration
You could try using Franceconnect to get yourself an account…
Just an update. I use wood for the bulk of my heating and applied for the special payment via the appropriate website on 11th February 2023. My claim was accepted and I received an email confirming this within a few minutes. I was told that a cheque would be sent by post within 90 days.
My cheque actually arrived today - after just 16 days.
I could either pay the cheque into my regular bank account or choose to credit it to an energy supplier. As I’d already paid cash for the wood I chose to visit the website mentioned in the letter and used it for my electricité supplier by entering my cheque energie number, my dossier and contract numbers - these can both be found on your electricity or gas bill.
All in all, a great success, very easy and faster than promised. Vive la France!
