How good a job has Macron done so far?

Status quo or even in decline, they seem to have lost a lot of ground in recent years, fortunately!

We were told yesterday that Macon hospital is now almost full of Covid patients.
I have two appointments, one for a PET scan and another with my specialist at the end of April.
I think I will postpone.

If handled properly you should be at no risk attending the hospital, the problem is if everyone decides to postpone appointments there will be an horrendous backlog to catch up with

A technique the BBC has used for years Ron. No matter where in the World they had to search for the “friend’s” team.

I’ve been trotting in and out of my local clinic (read hospital) for echos, lung function tests, all sorts on monitoring stuff and the hygiene standards are excellent.

With the huge increase in Covid numbers I can imagine that it will be the hospital that will be postponing outpatients appointments.

In the UK they have tried to keep clinics etc going as much as possible

Yes, but the rate of Covid is decreasing in UK and here it is is rising exponentially.

The issue may become staffing levels, staff sickness and isolation etc rather than other things

Because it’s how it’s always been Jane. My last town of 10000 inhabitants had a communist maire for decades, when he passed away he was replaced with another like him. The latest one who took over about ten or so years ago has done a brilliant job and has transformed the town.
Communists come in all shapes and sizes and sometimes it’s just a label.

In the last couple of months I have had 3 MRIs, a scintigraphie, and a couple of RDV and on thur I have an electromyogram and another RDV. All at the hospital. I have been impressed by how they have separated out access routes and patients, and the hygiene standards. Each time I have left the hospital feeling as if I had been glazed with hydro-alcoholic gel. I wouldn’t worry, and if they don’t have to postpone the appointment then I would go ahead. As Eddie says if you don’t you’ll add to the inevitable backlog.

Kerala, which has a communist administration, has one of the lowest incidences of Covid-19 in the world.

With 5000+ patients now in ICU Macron has to do something quickly otherwise hospitals will be swamped.

A disturbing article in Wednesdays FT in which M le Penn sets out her vision for a national government of the right and making sure France is for the French and says she likes Johnson and Trump’s approach to the State

" A whole section of the left voted for Mr Johnson [in December 2019] when before they could never have voted for a candidate like him. Why? Again because these leftwing voters saw Johnson as the candidate capable of controlling globalisation who would stop them becoming the systematic losers from globalisation.":

The worrying thing is they say all the indications are that a whole chunk of voters are moving her way…just like the red wall in NE England

The article is headlined

Marine Le Pen touts national unity government for France.

Worth a read if you can acsess it…very worrying it as it says this time round it will be different to 2017 as the world has changed and has become more nationalistic. Its not a DM, Express DT rant on her behalf but balanced judgment.
I can email a gift link if anybody wants it.

Populism and demagogy are on the rise everywhere and France is no exception so obviously someone like MLP is going to surf the wave. Terrible :pensive:

Jane I understand how you feel, I was in hospital briefly about 3 weeks ago but had to be there to visit other out patient departments.
We have to be very brave and dream of better times to come.
Macron considers all the options and does his best,
Around here buildings spring up like spring tulips.
I am sure that the region would be financially blossoming if it was not for Covit,
We can not blame Macron for covit…but we can remind each other that now
is not the time for family gatherings and dinner parties.

i know so well how hard it is to cope with the isolation but we need to be less
selfish and keep to the rules.

Announcement this evening, looks like schools being closed early for Easter (my kids 2 weeks early and they’re chuffed to bits, the parents a little less!)

But sadly it makes sense

If that is the only additional measure they come up with I doubt it will be enough.
