I need help and advice Part 2

@Happyrob
Fair enough.
You’ve been here since 2011 looking after your Mother.
You presumably got yourself into the Annual Declaration/taxation system etc ???
… I know you’ve got the carte vitale…

Did you ever apply for the French “residence permit” which was available to all British folk “residing in France before the Brexit Deadline 31st December 2020” ???

the more I think about your situation… the more I wonder if you should contact the Notaire who dealt with your mother’s death… you must have been able to communicate there… and perhaps they can help you now… I know Notaires do sell property…
Show the Notaire the Tax bill you’ve received and ask advice/help… can’t hurt to ask.

The Notaire might well know an English/French speaker who can help you to communicate with the various Offices/Embassy/whatever…

If you do want help to return to the UK be aware that it is a one-way ticket, and you can’t come back. So you need to put the house in the hands of notaire first.

It is in the link I posted above. The nearest office to you is I think poitiers, but you could ask your marie to phone for ypu.

So you need to make somehatd choices aboutwhere you see your future.

Here’s a translation of the steps to take.

Step 1
Go to your nearest OFII office. The adviser will provide an interpreter if you need one.

Step 2
Present your passport to the adviser. If you do not have a passport, the adviser will help you to obtain a travel document.

Step 3
OFII will pay for your plane ticket and transport from your home to the airport.

Step 4
You will receive a convocation from the OFII for departure. Check your luggage limit. You must not exceed the maximum number and weight of luggage authorised.

Step 5
On the day of departure, the OFII will meet you at the airport and accompany you to the boarding lounge. The OFII will give you a document with a code that you will keep.

Step 6
Once you have arrived in your country, you will withdraw the money yourself, with your photo ID, from an establishment offering the Western Union Quick Cash service.

what an interesting site…
It could be very useful for @Happyrob.

If he’s not been making the correct Annual Declarations etc etc since 2011, he could/would be viewed as having an “irregular situation” and thus he becomes eligible for this help… if he wants to get back to UK.

It’ll cost more in travel than he’ll receive… A few hundred quid.and a flight/ferry …

The aim of the Website is to get " a person" voluntarily back to the where that person has the right to live (no matter what) and where benefits and help (to suit the person’s situation) are available… and all in English (which is a great advantage for an English speaking Brit).

EDIT: I’m referring to Life in UK being all in English… and thus easier for English speakers.

Seems to be automagically translated on the fly.

I’m talking about everything in UK… where the national language is English…
Not just websites and stuff… it’s more about meeting people, explaining, discussing, getting answers… all in English… it is a wonderful relief for many, many folk who struggle in places abroad where their language skills might not be up to scratch.

(and, I’ve noticed that not all “automatic” translations into English make complete sense… but that’s another story.)

I thought that you were just referring to the service-public.fr pages that @Robert_Hodge linked.

Yes, hence me thinking it would be useful to point out that the “English” in question was auto-translated French.

Funny you say that… I know it is! But?
Skype’d my parents yesterday evening, during the conversation they told me they tried getting an appointment for a 4th jab by telephone… Automated filtration system kicks into press 1 if you want to speak in English

similarly, when I phoned my UK bank/branch… I discovered I was actually speaking to someone in India (or similar)… that was years ago, of course… I only found out by asking the person to look out of the window and see … blah blah blah… and the person thought this was very funny. I was not amused.
