More like a climbing wall.
It’s your VPN that is the problem. I have a firestick in 5 villas and all work perfectly. I live on the Cote d’Azur. Try Express VPN cost of less than 5€ per month. I get Iiplayer,Netflix etc. Yes occasionally reception can be annoying but not very often. Much cheaper than Sky at £51.00 per month for rubbish!
Lots of confused advice on here and as usual a little moralising here and there. First off, Firestick is an internet based service, so unless you are getting your internet via satellite then all the talk of dish sizes etc (that is with an sh not ck) is irrelevant.
I have a Firestick in the bedroom TV, bought in France, and I have an Amazon Prime account in the UK as well as in France. I have chosen the UK as my preferred location for Prime content - you can change it but can only have one location for a single logon (both UK and French Prime accounts use the same logon). As I mostly consume English language content (or foreign language with English subtitles) it suits me better.
For the Firestick, which I must admit we use only occasionally in the winter, I have NordVPN installed as an app and activated for the UK. There is no problem watching iPlayer, Amazon Prime or Netflix on that with this setup. On my main TV I have SmartDNSProxy installed on the Freebox router and that mostly works fine as well - in fact that allows customised locations for different TV providers.
All of this in my case (except iPlayer) is paid for content but normally restricted to users in the various countries and content is restricted when “travelling.” I have BBC and Prime set for the UK and Netflix for the USA.
One potential fly in the ointment is that due to the proliferation of illegal streaming platforms, especially for premium sports channels, the French government is coming under pressure to restrict or even halt the use of VPNs. Maybe others can provide more information on that as I have not been following it much, but I know that my two brothers (one in Spain, the other in Italy) both have issues with VPNs in those countries. They work, but require more effort switching them on and off.
