Irish citizenship?

Or, perhaps new posters might introduce some decorum.

Fair point, John, but some well-established posters are also capable of rather unhelpful and unfriendly contributions.

I’m quite content to recognise that I can be one of those posters but our new friend is downright offensive.

Very surprised to see such vitriolic posts on this. No need at all

John, I asked for advice and from most people I received just that. You, and the other member, just came on to criticise, not to help and there was absolutely no need.
May I suggest you don’t push people’s buttons if you don’t want an honest response.

No, you’re all good. I don’t engage with racist bigots in the pub nor will I do so here so it’s unlikely that we’ll interact further.

I’m mildly (very mildly) intrigued. When was the last time you lived in the UK?

Being an aspiring Irish citizen I’m sure your research into the Country’s history and culture has revealed to you that Ireland has an excellent track record in welcoming the oppressed. This probably comes from having been oppressed itself (by guess who ) for six hundred years.

If you feel you fall into the oppressed category, and Heaven knows I’m sure many British people do these days, the procedure you need to follow is detailed below.

An alternative method, which I believe is very popular, is to board a flight to an Irish airport and then flush your existing passport down the toilet. When you arrive you should present yourself as undocumented to the border or airport police, who will treat you with respect and compassion. Unlike in some countries we could mention.

I just read the above.

Frankly Papique, with attitudes like that you would’t like Ireland, you don’t share our values. I, and all my many, many Irish friends would be ashamed to hear an “Irish” person say such things and we would challenge them.

As opposed to becoming a Plastic Paddy, have you considered becoming a rightwing Hungarian?

I’m sorry you feel like that John but, with respect, I think you’re out of touch with reality. That is precisely the reason I will be moving to France, to get as far away as possible from the ongoing collapse of the UK.
How you’ve come to the conclusion I’m a racist bigot is beyond me. I’m just telling it as it is.

So you think it’s acceptable to be treated the way I’ve described? May I suggest you do a little research before accusing me of sensationalism.
Oh and you did see the thousands protesting in Ireland regarding immigration I expect. I’d ask myself, self if I were you, whether you really know the Irish people at all.
I’m drawing a line under this now John as the good feeling I get about leaving the UK for France is getting a little cloudy with all this.
Namaste

I’m looking into doing that to a couple of people Graeme. I just want to talk about France and learn from people who’ve made the move.

This is how to do it.
But don’t be put off by some odd views that are expressed on here. The majority are helpful people.

If not tolerating racists is considered odd then I’ll wear that badge with pride.

It you haven’t explained why you believe I’m a rascist/bigot. And that, my dear, is because you cannot. You’re much of a muchness shouting out those over used words that really mean nothing anymore, because they’re used at the drop of a hat to anyone and everyone that doesn’t agree with your rhetoric. We are allowed different opinions John.

Indeed, but you shouldn’t be surprised, or upset if people question your values and their basis.

I can only state what I’ve seen and experienced :woman_shrugging:

Indeed, but looking at the ethnic composition of this century’s very varied UK governments would suggest that in comparison to France despite Brexit and all the political shouting about immigration figures etc, the people of the UK are more comfortable with a multi-racial society than are the French. Don’t like the term ‘race’ - not for PC reasons, but because it’s a wholly cultural distinction,

Can you define woke for me. And also what is the woke mind virus that they have?

Mainly Liberals
