Same principle as the ginger set milk - you just need whole milk warmed up and juice from a whizzed up ginger root. Magic!

Oh! This makes me so nostalgic.

There was a small stall on Lamma Island in Hong Kong. After a long seafood lunch by the sea there is nothing so lovely as watching frothing milk deftly poured into bowls and a smiling man hands you a gentle ginger posset.

There’s a similar Turkish thing called Sahlep which uses ground orchid root. It’s usually served thin as a warm drink but if you increase the root:milk ratio it’s much thicker. Delicious with cinnamon and pistachios…

I know this is all a big drift from the main topic but I really appreciate it as I do get stuck in a rut with recipes and forget the good ones I’ve made before. I might retry my grapefruit posset recipe with lemon instead. I didn’t realise you could possibly do something similar with milk - I’d always used cream…

Lovely temp this morning which encouraged me to go straight from bed and into the pond. It was beautiful and a rare moment when the water was actually warmer than the air. 23 in the pond, 22 out of it. The pond was down 1C from yesterday evening but the air down all the way from 37.

Light drizzle helps and I think I will make more of these refreshing, rather than cooling, dips as long as I can. :joy:

Forecast to rain this afternoon and the weekend, and cannot wait! Then the cooler weather arrives. Hopefully rejuvenate the garden, and me, as need to get back out on the mtb and hiking after being ill.

Oh yes! Delicious - in Syria and Lebanon they make it with orange flower water or rose as well and it’s usually posset consistency, during my year in Damascus I helped a friend who was a student like me with her French and English and her granny always brought us bowls of lovely sahlab to boost our poor brains which were obv exhausted by the hard work :joy:

I think we could probably put chufa in the same broad category. And what about lovely bouza ice-cream?

I’m not too keen on any of the mastic styles of ice cream - dondurma is the Turkish version. I’m strictly a gelato lover :ice_cream:

You can make delicious paneer with milk and lemon juice or vinegar :slightly_smiling_face:

I also have a multi split with three indoor units. In this weather, I generally produce about 25+ Kwh on a sunny summer day, and so I can run the cooling most of the day for free :+1:. In saying that, I only tend to put it on if the internal temp gets above about 29C. My two smaller units also consume about 550W each with the bigger unit taking about 750W.
As for cooling down at night, I wet a small towel with cold water, wring it out and then drape it over my torso. That cools me down instantly and effectively.

I am guessing at 8 panels @ 400w per panel or a multiple of that if smaller?

It’s a mix of250W and 300W panels totaling 4.1Kw. As we’re 30 degrees from south and the roof angle isn’t optimum, we don’t get the full 4.1Kw. It peaks at about 3.5Kw production.
