Firstly thanks again, then to say to @billybutcher although I know you mean well I understood barely a word of what you wrote and will stick with what is provided, plus the batteries I am off to buy, and follow the instructions to the letter.
@JohnH I am amazed too, but can only put it down to the fact that I have nothing until now which uses those tiny batteries as far as I know. I have plenty of the AAs but they are way to big.
@Griffin36 That looks nothing like what I have got, just a very small adaptor, only slightly larger than the mouse receiver itself , and the one connects to the other and both are placed in the charger slot. There is no cable at all.
I can see it might be inconvenient not to be able to charge the tablet while using the mouse, if you are somebody who travels a lot on trains etc., but that doesnât describe me, I can easily recharge the tablet when I am not using it, during the night for example, so unless it has go a ridiculously short battery life, in which case it will go back, not a problem for me.
The tablet has a usb c port, the dongle plugs into the usb C to usb A OTG as the tablet does not have an older usb A port built in, my wife has one of these packages and I have a J10 tablet as well.
It is nearly that but not quite, the little thing that @SuePJ showed connects to the female big bit that you showed, but the latter is one thing, there is no cable in between. Instead of the cable coming out of the back of it it is one item. Female usb one end to take the tiny receiver and the charger male the other end to connect to the female charging port on the tablet.
Anyway it is acedemic at the moment because I canât get any of thes items to talk to each other. Last night Christine the CIAS aide was here and she managed to get a demand on screen to log on to our Livebox. I chouted the long number from the other room and she entered it onto the screen via a screen based keypad.. No idea hw that happened because I wasnât there and she did not have time to explain.
So we managed to get it linked to the wifi. But this afternoon it wants me to do various things which I can skip for the monet, importing stuff from elsewhere for instance, until I get to the place where it wants to acknowledge me via my email address. The panel has a flashing curser but there is now ay the keyboard or the mause can talk to it, and no way that I can see to get a keypad on screen.
The tablet is fully charged although it does seem to descend at an alarming rate, the mouse is loaded correctly with new batteries, the keyboard is switched on and connected to wifi but nothing is working. No curser on screen from the mouse, no response on screen from the keyboard and no way on the screen to input anything at all. Totally baffling.
Even just now tried plugging the mouse receiver into the keyboard instead. Nothing.
I didnât because I thought I had answered what you said the video would show me, so I have been back and looked again and I have done everything right. Except for one thing, I had not put the batteries in the mouse correctly but as I had taken them out several times that is hardly surprising and I am certain that at least the first time I was careful in doing so.
Anyway, now the mouse works and with some difficulty (because it kept saying I couldnât connect to another device to copy, which I donât want to do) I finally got back to the place where I am invited to enter my email address. Complete halt. Although the mouse placed the cursor in the right place nothing happens when I try to type. The keyboard is switched on and I have pressed âconnectâ (which does confirm with a light) but no letters or numbers appear on the screen. Is the a way to get a keypad on the screen at this point? I know Christine managed it last night when inputting the Livebox code. Not that I want it, I really want to use the keyboard, but if I can only get into the thing by other methods I can attend to that later.
Surely it isnât necessary to have the keyboard plugged into the mains all the time is it? I thought these things were for travellers. Anyway, plugged in or not, it still doesnât work.
Tap the box or click on the box where you input your email address and an on screen keyboard should appear, or click on the box with the mouse and see if you can type using the keyboard.
Neither of those things work, the keyboard is for all intents and purposes (even though all the appropriate lights show), dead.
Just re-reading the setup instructions again.
1 switch on keyboard - done
2 click âconnectâ button - done
3 Open âsettingsâ - now how do I do that, where is settings?
4 find device named âBluetooth keyboardâ and tap âconnectâ - if I could, I would.
Swipe up from the bottom brings up the app drawer settings is in there, you also can swipe down from the top and make sure Bluetooth is highlighted as on, a long press on the Bluetooth icon will also take you into the Bluetooth settings as well.
if you have never used android on a phone or tablet you really need someone to show you how to use it for 10 min as itâs not like windows, would your computer buddy be able to show you, as itâs easier than long distance coaching.
Swiping from the bottom or the top produces nothing at all, and yes, I have had an Asus Android for years and it is no longer working as well as it should, hence the reason for the change.
Tapping on the box I want to type into does work on the Asus and it brings up a keypad, which I donât like, hence this time I was attracted to this because it had a keyboard and mouse. Most frustrating.
I sent a message to Eddie earlier but sometimes it is days before he has the the time, and no reply so far.
Christine is due in the morning, she may remember how she managed to get a keypad on screen when we connected to the Livebox.
Thanks mate for trying so hard, maybe tomorrow will bring success.
BTW no pen in the box but to be fair that wasnât listed, but earplugs were and arenât there either.
Managed to get in at last, but only by switching off the keyboard and taking the receiver and OTG out of the tablet socket.
Will have to check out this keyboard thing tomorrow, maybe with an email to them, there may be a fault in it.
You have to check the Bluetooth is switched on and the keyboard is connected, I will virtually bet the keyboard is ok
You just have to get used to the way android works.
I will have another go this morning but I have definitely switched on everything that needs to be switched on, and the correct lights are showing. Could be something silly but I canât for the life of me think what.
Yes it is on the top right of the keyboard along with the connect button.
You have to use the mouse to click on the box you want to type on and then type.
To make sure the keyboard is connected you click on the settings cog, Connected devices, the keyboard should show with the mouse in the list or click see all and click on the keyboard, if it is not there click pair new device and see if it finds it.
Yes, I have made sure of all of that, several times, but:-
The mouse will only work if the dongle is in the keyboard.
The on screen keypad only comes up if the dongle is disconnected, thus stopping the mouse working
The keyboard, even though switched on and connected (all lights showing) does not work at all.
Iâll have one more go, with keyboard plugged into the mains to cover all bases, and if no luck then, emails to both Amazon and the vendor, with all packaging ready if no progress.
But I canât do that until all the morning aides have been and gone, I will need all my concentration with no interruptions.
Questions.
Where does the keyboard get its power from?
Does it need to be plugged in all the time?
If not, how do I tell when it is fully charged?
