La Poste and parcel from the UK - is this right?

Lidl do I think 3 different PB’s, I’m a heathen so I like the smooth with added everything :rofl:. I think its marked creamy. DH gets one that is smooth but unadulterated in a big jar and there is a 3rd in smaller jars that the kids complain about and I think when we looked had no salt or sugar added.

Only takes 3 mins in a food processor

Yes, and decided not to.

I may one day try it with pistachios though. Most of the pistachio pastes are oversugared and quite a few also have the odd bit of suspect oil in them.

Wow. A site for body builders’ nutrients George1. Thank you it looks good.

However my current addiction is one of the commercial brands as in certain supermarkets or just possibly food wholesalers…. I am bereft without it.

Yes I did use Dakatine following your recommendation for quite a while Vero. Especially as I had hunted down an extremely affordable source in the now-defunct Club Leader Price. I now have a number of Dakatine’s lovely coloured large tins which I recycled to use for brushes and pencils on my desk.

In time though I developed a sensitivity to one of the ingredients and had to switch. But in France so far Dakatine was definitely the best.

Yeah but it’s gross :face_with_peeking_eye::face_vomiting:

I buy that one, a bit strange to start with as the ingredients are only peanuts and nothing else! No sugar or salt or added oil. It rated quite high on the food quality listing too. I bought a bio one before from LeClerc and it advised keeping in the fridge, well all I ended up with was a jar of oil so threw it out, not cheap either.

It just separated, stir it back in and all is fine.

Why gross? Apart from shop additives missing it’s just peanuts?

Not as gross if you roast the peanuts first and add enough salt as well as perhaps an emulsifier to stop it separating, eg palm oil, oh….

My tahina separates but I just stir it and all is well.

You could get a packet of Menguy’s roasted salted but otherwise unfiddledaboutwith peanuts and whizz ‘em up. You get them vacuum packed in the apéro bit of the supermarket.

Menguy’s Salted are in the red packets :+1:

Due to OH’s health, we buy their black packets which have “no salt” (yippee) .. excellent for nibbles. :+1: :+1:

I use them a lot in Viet and other SE Asian food, whizzed but not to the point of becoming peanut butter (because dakatine has that covered).

I tried a top branded peanut butter once and it was like eating wet sawdust. I presume it’s ok as a cooking aid but as is? No thanks.

It’s starting to seem like a Marmite thing, people love peanut butter or hate it.

Hmm… have never, ever liked peanut butter .. I love peanuts.

but I have always loved Marmite … until about 10 years ago when I realised that the jars (brought from UK by friends/visitors) were sitting unopened and out of date  so I chucked the lot and have never bothered nor desired to replace ‘em.

OH is pleased as he always hated the small of marmite…

I’m guessing that my love of a peanut butter, marmite & vegan mayonnaise* sandwich is going to confuse some opinions.

*Vegan garlic mayo if it’s a special occasion.
